Chaunigan Lake Lodge
Chaunigan is a special place located in a spectacular setting.
Chaunigan is a great place to learn new skills.
The owner is knowledgeable and a good instructor. The atmosphere
is kind, thoughtful, respectful and fun.
Expect to be treated with respect and kindness , while having fun doing your day to day tasks.The work is varied and you will often work as part of a team. Learning off grid living skills with be useful for the rest of your life.

My experience at the lodge was fantastic!
I really enjoyed doing a bit of everything—different tasks where I felt useful and that I could contribute. The work can be physically demanding, so it’s not for everyone. It involves strength and the use of tools (I don’t have much experience with tools, so there were some things I wasn’t able to do).
The cabin I stayed in is a bit rustic. You need to do all your grocery shopping before arriving, as food is not provided. When I applied, it said that meals were included, but that wasn’t the case—you have to buy everything you’re going to consume.

Bruce and Arlene are very welcoming hosts, and treat me very well. Bruce is a great teacher and Arlene makes the best puff bread in the world.
They are lovely people and I highly recommend this volunteer.
