Casa cascada

A full nature immersion on the mountainside above San Rafael, Antioquia Colombia. Green, lush, bright birds, monkeys, swimming holes, waterfalls, fruit trees to pick from, caring for animals, growing plants and community with other volunteers from around the world in a house with hot water, strong wifi, super comfy mattresses, and a full kitchen are all reasons to come stay with us. The bridge over the river to get to our finca is too narrow for cars to pass. The result is tranquility like you can't imagine.

We love our volunteers. We give them all the basic foods they need to stay full and provide an environment to both disappear into nature and also stay connected if they have a digital job or other online obligations or research and communication goals. We also offer flexible work hours to integrate into your current schedule. Sometimes I can't be there due to other business needs, so I manage remotely during those times. This creates a lot of independent work which is great for some and can be challenging for others. Also note that while we try to immerse you in Spanish, it seems that usually the default language is English b/c that's what most volunteers know. Whenever requested, we have "Spanish only" time.

A beautiful place surrounded by forest. Expect an adventurous motorcycle ride to get there. You can truly get into touch with nature and it's rhythms. Do a sweaty day's work and a then take a refreshing swim in the lovely waterfall pool. See tiny monkeys and cool lizards. Although Nicolas cannot be there physically present all the time, he was well available through WhatsApp to brainstorm with us and instruct us on the work at hand. It was a lovely communal experience; we cooked, did dishes and cleaned in turns. On free days we walked to the town, and to the lovely nearby Cascada Honda.

Our experience was great, lovely nature and the waterfall is amazing. Nicolas primarily manages remotely but keeps in good contact so no problems. The work is hard but rewarding.

La casa cascada is in really beautiful nature. You are surrounded by hills, forest, a lot of nice birds and even monkeys. Its a good place to bond with nature and enjoy it. Workwise you can do different tasks. Wether its maintenance, gardening or creating you own projects. You can be creative. Niclas wasn't there when I was volunteering there so you need be proactive and show self initiative, but then you will have a great time. And it's a perfect place for digital nomads.

Upon arrival the place was not cleaned, however the host said he would had it cleaned, but it took a whole week for the place to be cleaned.

I could tell host had disposition to make things right, but things were just not getting done.

I think it’s a good place to set and practice boundaries.

The work it’s mainly laboring, but he’s willing to let you find something you enjoy doing.

Overall I tried to make the best of the experience as I know we’re all learning and trying to do the best we can.
