Most things are decided at the last minute. There's a variety of chill activities some are paid (but they help you get discounts or it is donations) some are free. If you enjoy going with the flow and joining different activities without overthinking, it's a great experience. People are warm and caring. I worked in the kitchen and really loved the people I worked with. Since I don't ride a motorbike, I mostly relied on the community's organization for transportation. Sometimes the social atmosphere felt a bit too much for me, but overall it was a nice experience.

The experience during this volunteering was very good! The community was very open and I felt very welcome to get to know their culture more and the amazing people. Thank you to all the people I've met, especially my host Opan who gave me a home away from home. I would totally recommend doing this, especially as a first worldpackers experience.

I had a great time in the home! I only stayed 6 days but I wish I could have stayed longer. Everyone there makes you feel so welcomed, locals and volunteers alike! There is a good balance between time to relax, volunteering time, and fun activities (see waterfalls, hang out at a coffee shop, practice scooter driving, celebrations, play music, etc). My only complaint is that Mr Ahyak really pushed me to be an English teacher, but after I insisted repeatedly he relented and allowed me to work as a kitchen hand, which is what I signed up to do. The work was chill and enjoyable with cool people!

It was a last minute decision to volunteer at Mr Ahayak's community and it has been a truly wonderful experience! I stayed at NH villa with another volunteer and others stayed at separate homestays whom I was able to meet up outside of volunteer hours to do activities with. Though my stays were quite short, I could say it was very meaningful. I was so happy to get to meet the local kids and teach them English. The boys (Heru and Masjo) drove us around and treated us like princesses! I'm going to miss them for sure! Would highly recommend anyone volunteer there!

My stay in Mr. Ahyak's community was absolutely unique. I was incredibly warmly welcomed and always felt at ease. The accommodation was great and the food fantastic. My host family has become like my own family. Teaching the children has been very enriching in many ways. What touched me the most was their joy and motivation to spend time together. I would also like to mention how enriching the conversations with Mr. Ahyak and the people in his community were for me. I highly recommend a visit. It's worth staying there for several weeks to truly immerse yourself in local life. :)

I originally planned to stay here 3 weeks but as I write this review I am still here and now staying 6 weeks. This is my first experience with Worldpackers and I couldn't have expected a more amazing experience. Mr Ahyak and the entire community are truly dedicated to sustainable travel, local culture and experiences, and helping the community of the home. Their hospitality is unbelievable and you will be part of a large community of both locals and other volunteers. It's hard to put into words how happy I am to have chosen to come here and I can't recommend the home enough!

If you want to experience the best volunteering experience of your life, i highly recommend this place. From the second i walked in, i felt like part of the family. These people truly care about their volunteers, and their always organizing activities for them. During my first week i got to experience a local wedding, snorkling in the gili islands, strawberry picking in Sambaloen, endless of farewells for the leaving volunteers, swimming in a waterfall, pottery class. Special thanks to my hosts Mala and Nopy and to the big boss Mr Ahyak. Warning: You will want to extend your stay

Mr Ahyak and the community and the home have welcomed me with open arms! I truly loved my stay and teaching the kids was amazing, they are all very eager to learn. You can choose what you will do as a volunteer but I would highly recommend doing the english teaching as this really is what helps them the most. Check out @the home.ethnic_ on Instagram to get a better idea of the vibe!

The home is truly a special place to volunteer at. The community is welcoming, within your time (no matter how short) you will become family. Mr Ahyak's commitment to his community is outstanding and the opportunities to contribute to the locals are endless- you'll have the opportunity to teach for a few hours a day but also do so much more (visits to other local communities nearby, learning traditional processes like weaving/coffee and coconut oil processing, waterfall visits, Gili island trip) that enriches the entire stay. It was the best decision I've made!

Volunteering in the community was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. I'm incredibly grateful for the four weeks I was able to spend here. The community is extremely welcoming, warm, and kind, and you truly get the chance to immerse yourself in local life. Attending a traditional wedding and a celebration for a newborn were just some of the unforgettable experiences I had. Teaching here was deeply rewarding, as education is truly valued by everyone. I will never forget this month, and I would highly recommend volunteering here to anyone.
