The Essence of Nomadic Life
I personally believe that the essence of nomadic life lies in living in harmony with the ever-turning cycle of the four seasons. Let me try to explain this in my own words.
If you decide to visit in autumn, you’ll witness all the preparations we make to ensure a safe and comfortable winter. For example, we cut, bundle, press, and transport hay during this season so that our sheep, goats, horses, and cattle have enough food throughout the cold months.
In summer, we rise early to milk the cows and process dairy products. We also take the sheep and goats out to pasture first thing in the morning—work always comes first.
If you come in spring, between March and May, you’ll arrive during the birthing season: lambing, kidding, and calving. During this time, we care for the newborn animals—feeding them, watering them, and helping them nurse from their mothers.
Spring also brings another big and interesting task: combing the goats and branding the livestock on the steppe.
Winter is the time when the young animals born in spring, and the sheep and goats fattened during summer and autumn, must endure the cold and prepare for the next spring. Winter days are short and nights are long, with temperatures dropping from -20°C to -40°C.
Still, we carry out our daily chores: cleaning cow dung, herding sheep, milking cows, and feeding and watering the animals.
So I truly believe that if you come and visit us, we’ll create unforgettable memories together.
Thank you
