Had potential, but there were challenges with management. Tasks like washing manager's dishes and cleaning his house were unexpected. No days off and sudden extra work was expected of us, which was frustrating. More mature and professional communication from management would make this experience much better, as well as less aggressive, unpredictable behaviour. I saw many of the other workers becoming upset and angry with the management, and they did not feel they could talk about this with the host. We were not the first to leave early. Wouldn't recommend.

Hey Emily, Thanks for taking the time to write me a review, i'm a little confused and to be honest, surprised to read a negative review from you and Oli. Especially after you both asked twice to extend your stay with us?? I m sorry i couldn't fit you in longer as i thought you were both happy here and wasn't aware you both were unhappy. i'll try address some of your concerns = Firstly, Washing up and cleaning my apartment... This was after i cooked dinner for the whole hostel (80 beds) for free, your job for that day was "Extras" and i do this at least once a week and most are happy with the free food and volunteer to make this their "work" for the day. Everyone is offered a "day off" with how they choose to spread out their hrs. most choose to work a little bit everyday some work a lot a few days and have the other days off. Sorry if you didn't understand this - Oli did this a few times so you must have been aware? "Less aggressive" While i can be a little "full on" the only times i get aggressive is when safety is being jeopardized. I also wouldn't call my behaviour "un predictable" because if you do your job as written on the job card and follow the "common sense" rules of the hostel things are good. I assume you are talking about the "smart%&s" with the ginger hair as the "other worker" becoming upset with this and leave that there. As for talking with me, I always make time for people and their problems and try to create a balance with fun and safety of all our guests. Something you haven't mentioned and i feel is where our relationship soured was when you were asked to "be a banana" while it's not in the "job requirements" We do all participate (even me) in the "cool banana" right of passage to welcome the new guests and send off the departing guests. If you had such a problem with it i wasn't aware. Again i am sorry you didn't enjoy your time with us.

I had a really good time at the hostel. I was part of a really amazing team of people. The hostel is great for meeting people from all around the world. It is a very social place with lots of options. The work is 2 hours a day and you get a different job every day. I'm happy I got to experience the life in Agnes and coolbananas since it is one of my favourite places along the east coast.

I had an excellent time at the hostel! Everyone is very friendly and Scott is a great host. He drives everyone down to watch the sunset at the hostel pier every week. The work is as expected. You don't usually get scheduled days off but you can always double up on tasks the day before, or just ask Scott very nicely. The town is super laid back and chill, nice and close to the beach. Overall, great experience.

I came here with no idea what to expect. In the end I got a family, my time here taught me so much about me and what it means to be your self. The staff changed between my time here but I miss every one of them and I'm glad that I met them. The owner Scott is a really the hostel guy who is always there for everyone, he listens and if he can he will always help you. I'm gonna miss this place a lot and hope that my way in the future brings me back to here. All I can say is: Thank you for everything, I will never forget it :)

I had an incredible time at the hostel. The hostel has a very fun vibe, but the other volunteers are amazing. There are so many people I met there who I want to be in my life forever. The girls who work at reception are some of the nicest people in the world. They truly cared about me from day one. Scott the manager is a funny guy, sometimes he will dance too. We work for 2 hours everyday, even if you finish your task early you should find more work because we signed on for two hours a day. Sometimes Scott will cook and he's very skilled. The hostel is so clean. The beach is so close. Fun

I had an amazing time, the host, staff and location was marvellous. The owner is funny, kind and has been like a second dad for me. The hostel is cozy and is keept clean by all the amazing staff. Speaking of the staff, we became like a family very quick and always look out for each other. If you do your tasks properly there won't be a problem and the tasks in question are really easy, he doesn't ask for much from his staff. You live really close to the beach, bush and supermarkets so basically everything you can ask for if you like the chill lifestyle. 10/10, feels like my second home<3

The staff was super welcoming, the hostel is very relaxed and feels like home after a few days. We met such amazing people! The work is 14h a weeks, 2h everyday so if you want a day off you'll have to do 4h on one day, this was pretty flexible. The amount of work is fair and we had plenty of free to spend at the beach. The only inconvenience was that the first time i did a task i wasn't paired with anyone and had to figure it out on my own, but I don't think this is the standard though. The owner, Scott, was great and even cooked for us a few times. Great experience and will miss everyone!

I had such a good time at the hostel! The hostel is really clean, the rooms are spacious and have lockers for your valuables. You meet so many the hostel people when living there and the vibe is always super chill. The work tasks are very straight forward and easy to learn and as it is only 2h/day you are free for most of the day. The beach is super close which is a big plus as well. Will definitly be coming back!
