The hostel was an amazing experience and I met so many amazing people. I was a bit nervous coming into it, but as long as you do exactly what the tasks say to do you will have no problems. The tasks you have to do are pretty simple and most you can get done in about an hour and a half max. You do work every day, but have the option to double up to get a day off you just have to ask ahead of time. Other than the work, Scott would make us amazing meals at least once a week. Some nights he would also take us to the hostel to watch the sunset which was a good time. He was super fun to have as a boss.

The hostel was my first Worldpackers experience and it was awesome!! The other volunteers and guests are all so lovely, the work is straightforward and simple (just follow the task sheets and you'll have no issues), and Agnes is a beautiful place to settle down for a few weeks. The 3 weeks I spent at the hostel flew by and I miss everyone on the team so much already :)

I loved my time at the hostel, what an amazing bunch of people <3 Such a great balance between work and social time, the only thing I'd fault is the unnecessary dramas sometimes lol. However, I have grown so much as a person from my time here and would definitely recommend!!

This place was amazing, home away from home! Great place to walk around, see beautiful scenery, meet locals and be immersed in Aussie culture. The hostel was so welcoming and fun. You will make life long memories! As a solo woman traveler the owner made me feel very safe. My advice to anyone working is to do exactly what's on the set lists for the jobs to your best ability and you'll have no problems! Thank you everyone for everything! I will miss the hostel!

My experience was not what I excepted. The hours of work and the work were good and the hostel is clean and next to the ocean. But many problems made my stay uncomfortable. The owner can be scary and threatening. We have to tip toe around him because he can be helpful but also ominous. He asked some of the staff to clean his personal things. Many girls were uncomfortable because of some guys staying there. There's a lot of drinking that is initiated by the staff. It's just a weird and sometimes unhealthy atmosphere that many staff and guests picked on.

Hello Susu, Very surprised to read your negative experience, Cool Bananas Backpackers 1770 is an Internatioanl youth hostel for 18 - 35's, who are usually up for a drink and a party, we like to socialize and include everyone, we respected your choice not to drink alcohol and didn't mind you joining the fun drinking water.
I'm sorry you found me sometimes scary and threatening, but i see myself as a father figure and sometimes when the kids play up they need a talking to.
The guy who was making people feel uncomfortable, after the reports finally made it to me, was kicked out (please never be afraid to tell me if something isn't right, especially if you are feeling unsafe.)
Also, not too sure what "personal things" i made you clean?

The hostel is fine, the owner seems to be a very nice hostel owner at first. However, after a few days I did not da task well and the hostel owner scolded me the next morning. This did not feel good and so I, and a few other workers, left early.

communication was clear and written and expressed verbally how important it was for the bins to be put out. in saying that you didn't deserve to be spoken too like that so I do understand why you left

I had a great month at the hostel. the other staff and guests were amazing and i made some lifelong friends. the work is just 2 hours a day, and as long as you follow the job description list and try your best, you won't have any issues. agnes water is a beautiful little town, and it's a nice relaxing environment. definitely recommend to anyone who wants a social experience!

The host's management style has been challenging in our experience, with concerns raised about communication and expectations (work more than agreed). These experiences differ from our initial expectations, citing a need for improved clarity on tasks and a more predictable environment. Suggestions have been made for enhanced communication and involvement from the host's daughter, who is perceived as more mature and understanding. Hi Oli, Was very surprised to get such a negative review from you both, i thought you guys were having a great time, especially when you both asked on 2 different occasions to extend, which i really did try and only because i had others already coming in i couldn't. Oh, the negative review you are talking about was a personal attack from someone who was removed for breaking multiple rules intentionally because "what is he going to do about it" attitude will find you on the street.
