My stay on the Fdbdm was absolutely amazing. Katy and the others on the farm welcomed me with an open heart and mind. It truly felt a little bit like coming home. (Dinning together, boardgame evenings,...) The farm itself is bigger than you might think at first, so there is always something to do - in a good way! No overworking needed ;) The tasks were variable, so I got to do and learn doing quite a few things! Also, I enjoyed learning a lot about sustainability and gardening from people who clearly have quite a bit of experience with it. I can only recommend the Fdbdm!

I had the most wonderful 3-week stay on the farm. It was an incredible opportunity to learn about sustainability and permaculture in a very hands-on way. Living alongside the animals—chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, and the dogs—was a real highlight. The balance of learning, contributing, and simply enjoying the space made the experience so meaningful. The hosts are kind, generous, and knowledgeable, and they created an environment where it was easy to feel at home while learning so much. I left with new skills, wonderful memories, and lots of gratitude. Highly recommended

I was warmly greeted and immediately welcomed into the family. I enjoyed my experience. The work was easy and a relaxed schedule. The location is private but close enough to get to town quickly and exploring Belgium and Luxembourg was very easy and enjoyable

Everyone in the house was super welcoming and made me feel at home from day one. I had a great time doing the tasks and connecting with amazing people! There's something to learn from everyone. Some days the work can be physically demanding, so come prepared and stay motivated! It's all part of the experience and helps you grow. Grateful for the good vibes and everything I learned along the way!

I had the chance to stay for almost two weeks, and it was a wonderful experience! With open communication, everything went smoothly, and solutions were easily found in case of any problems. During my stay, the hosts were incredibly caring and sincere. Although I've been a city person all my life, I learned so much about nature, nutrition, permaculture, and farm life. In addition to the volunteering work, I enjoyed inspiring and educational conversations, fun game nights, and peaceful late-night walks. The hosts were reliable and trustworthy—everything was exactly as described on the platform.

I had a great time at the farm and felt welcomed by the people staying at the farm. We played board games together regularly, and every evening we would have dinner together. The tasks were not too hard, some were more interesting, some less. The only thing that I would advise is that there is not much to do around the farm itself and getting into the closest town isn't easy, as the bus isn't very frequent. Therefore, you will spend most of your time at the farm and should bring some entertainment. Weekends are free, and you can do as you please. Thank you, Katy and everyone else at fdbdm! :)

I can't say whether my experience was good or bad, my father-in-law passed away the day after I arrived, so I couldn't keep my commitments. I only worked for 1 day because I had to go to Spain urgently. I apologize for any inconvenience, but family comes first.

To make the most of your experience, communicate clearly—confirm schedules and tasks in advance to avoid misunderstandings. Be prepared for physically demanding work, and manage personal matters discreetly to stay professional. Stay flexible, ask questions early if expectations are unclear, and always show respect for the project and community. If challenges arise, address them calmly and part ways positively if needed. This role requires adaptability, patience, and a proactive attitude—go in with an open mind, and you'll gain a meaningful experience!
