San Jose and the hostel will always be a special place to me. It was a great volunteer experience. If you're not a Spanish speaker, don't worry Abel, the manager Or your coworkers guests will help you (Davi has good eye for good people). It's a small hostel with plenty of opportunity to connect. Everything you need will be within walking distance; beach, groceries, restaurants, etc. The hostel is right in the centre of the city but it still maintains a lowkey and tranquil vibe. There's a great community in San Jose, it's easy to feel at home. Reach out if you have any questions :)

Davier has created such a beautiful space and community in the hostel of SJDC! The guests that came in and out of the hostel are some of the coolest people I had the chance to cross paths with, and I'm so grateful Davi was able to give me the chance to be apart of it. The work was very reasonable and I think if you're able to immerse yourself in the team of volunteers, you're bound to have a good time 🇲🇽

I had a great time at the hostel! Since the hostel isn't too big the work was easy and relaxed. The location has its pros and cons. It's in the center so great bars and restaurants are close but the grocery store and beaches require buss or uber. Miguel and Dominic are great managers, they really care about their work and the volunteers. And when a difficult situation arose they handled it with good communication and everyone's best interest in mind. If you choose to stay here you will be in great hands. much love ❤️

This was my first volunteer experience and it was just amazing! Davier is such a kind and funny person. The job is very straightforward and fun with a 5 hours shift each day with two days off (usually in a row). If you are undecided whether to go or not, make yourself a favour and apply…you won't regret it at all!

Davier and the team were so amazing! Im so glad I stayed at the hostel. I painted 4 small murals and 1 large one in those 3 weeks. The room was a shared staff room but was plenty comfortable and clean. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and had space for my groceries. The weekly food stipend was 200 pesos (13 USD) and if you budget correctly and only buy groceries, it can go a little while. The work itself was easy and very clear. Everyone was kind and I had so so much free time. I met so many nice people and would highly suggest to others!

A perfect place if you enjoy really chill and artistic environment. The work itself is not difficult at all, hours are respected, and Davier is really flexible with the schedule. Great place to meet a lot of locals, but I would strongly recommend learning at least the basics in Spanish before going. Also, the manager Abel is the most helpful and kindest person ever. The only con I have is that the walk to the closest beach is a bit further than I expected, and you can't really go swimming there.
