La experiencia

Our camp is located in the middle of nature, 50 meters from the sea and 150 meters from a lagoon where you can find a large number of species: spider, capuchin and howler monkeys, iguanas, coaties, raccoons, a multitude of bird species, etc.
Our work consists of monitoring the birdlife of the lagoon with the intention of promoting the conservation of the species that live there, studying their behavior and evaluating human impact.

Jardinería: Ayuda a plantar y cultivar jardines.

Descripción: Los voluntarios pagaran una cuota de 26$ por noche para cubrir gastos de alimentación, generador eléctrico, limpieza, mantenimiento etc.

Programa detallado

The birdlife monitoring program in the lagoon and surrounding areas offers volunteers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the conservation of biodiversity in one of the richest regions in flora and fauna of Costa Rica. Volunteers will contribute to the study and protection of local and migratory bird species in the ecosystem.
The data collected helps to better understand animal populations, migration patterns and the threats they face, allowing effective conservation strategies to be developed.

Program objectives:
- Record bird species and their behavior.
- Monitor migration and reproduction patterns.
- Contribute to scientific databases.
- Raise awareness in the local community about conservation.
- Restore and protect natural habitats.

Volunteer activities:
- Observation and counting of birds in different points of the lagoon.
- Use of field guides and applications for species identification.
- Daily data recording.
- Support in environmental education workshops with the community.
- Maintenance of trails and natural habitats.

What does the program include?
- Accommodation in a natural environment.
- 3 meals a day.
- 2 hours of electricity daily (WIFI is not included)
- Training in bird monitoring and conservation.
- Free time to explore the area and enjoy the biodiversity


Actividades & Turnos

The volunteer will work three hours a day from Monday to Friday. Having free weekends to take excursions in the area, relax on the beach, take tours to Corcovado National Park or Caño Island, etc.
In addition to birdlife monitoring, the activities also include reforestation activities, habitat cleaning, plastic collection on beaches, camp maintenance and cleaning, and area maintenance.


Reglas

The only days we receive volunteers are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

It is important that the volunteer bring:
- Binoculars
- Flashlight
- Mosquito net
- Insect repellent.

Volunteer requirements:
- Passion for nature and conservation.
- Respect for the environment and the community.
- Desire to learn and work as a team.
- Previous experience is not required but is welcome.
