English Assistant in the Classroom

I spent a week at the the school with my partner Sara and we didn't enjoy it. The work is unstructured: no teaching, no garden and animals cared for by other people. For 7 days, lunch and dinner were filled with white rice and a small bowl of salty vegetables. The food, cooked by the wife, who doesn't speak English and never smiled, was left on the table, sometimes without letting us know it was ready. The rooms, kitchen, and bathrooms were dirty and smelly. No soap or toilet paper. Only small shops nearby. Nothing to say about the children, the cutest. I felt more a hindrance than a welcome.

What kim does with the children is really nice and also necessary. He gives them the opportunity to have a quality learning. But the place is not really good in higienic conditions. The badrooms were incredible dirty, the kitchen, the eating table, the sleeping room...Maybe for some people dirt is not a problem, but for me it was, and also trough that bad conditions I got sick and spent 4 days in the Hospital because a strong gastroenteritis. So I find it a really nice proyect and children are amazing and they love volunteers, but they should offer a higienic and clean conditions for volunteers.

Kim is a lovely host. I spend 10 days with him and his family and had so much fun. I did have to personally ask him about the teaching and kind of figure that out on my own as the volunteers where more expected to do physical labour ( gardening and carrying rocks) but eventually we all managed to da little bit of everything and it turned out to be great. Dont expect luxury circumstances, but do expect to get your heart warmed by these magical children. I already miss them :)

Being part of the the school project has been a good experience. We enjoyed being surrounded by animals and taking care of the plants, and it also helped us practice our English. Kim and his family welcomed us well, and the atmosphere was calm. A nice opportunity to connect with nature and learn new things!

I had a nice experience volunteering here. The tasks are simple, mainly watering and helping the project grow. Meals are basic but fine, with rice as the main staple. If you're looking for a relaxed volunteering opportunity where you can meet people and contribute, this is a good option!

Kim is creating an absolutely incredible space for the local community. He puts everything into the the school and is even looking at building an orphanage to get more children an education and support where it's needed. During my stay I helped in the gardens with the daily watering and taught 4 English classes a day. The children are an absolute delight and I am so sad that I had to leave them! The work is a little bit more intense when there are less volunteers but it's all for a fantastic cause!

Kim is completing amazing work. You can be part of an organisation to really help and enhance young people's learning. During our time we became sick (unrelated to Kyms project) he was very caring and supportive. Accommodation here is very basic
