I had a great time at the hostel. The other volunteers were so kind and welcoming , and the area is lovely. My favorite activities included day trips around the island, family dinners, and the hostel nights spent with the team. However, the role I applied for was advertised as leading tours, planning events, and organizing sports. 2 days before i arrived I was informed my role was actually going to be reception and housekeeping. Despite this, I would definitely recommend this experience and ended up having the best time, the last month felt like one big vacation with friends :)

Sadly, my experience at the hostel was disappointing. The managers were absent and showed no real interest in the volunteers. Communication was often confusing and contradictory, and some volunteers were treated unfairly. The workload in the apartments was too heavy, and none of the promised group activities happened — with the excuse that there “wasn't a good group connection” among the volunteers. The hostel relies almost entirely on volunteers, yet offers no real support or guidance in return. I had a nice time but wouldn't recommend this hostel.

The team of volunteers was amazing, I felt like I had been part of a little family :) Compared to other hostels, the hostel is clean, but has a quite high age average of guests. What I have to honestly criticize is the new management, as the communication has been difficult and the team did sometimes not feel fully supported as well as how some issues were being dealt with. But other than that, wishes about days off were perfectly respected as well as the agreed shifts, so the experience was definetly enjoyable and I would gladly do it again for all the people that I have met ! :)

The hostel is a very social environment. Everyone is super welcoming and nice; the work is easy, mostly cleaning but it wont take that much of time and you will work with somebody else most of the time which makes the work better. The hostel is also in a good position and you can easly move around with buses.

The people are amazing, and the island is beautiful! I had so much fun here and made so many friends. The work is easy, and every week they sent a schedule, which helped me plan out anything I wanted to see or do during my stay. The only downside was the cockroaches and bed bugs, which were not fun to deal with. To be fair, they are trying to fix these issues, but during my stay, the problem wasn't improving. Other than that, my time here was so special, and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Very positive experience! There are two teams: one at the hostel and one at the volunteer apartment. The apartment team had a separate manager, Julieta, who was very kind and helpful. Tasks were simple, and if finished in two hours, the rest of the day was free to explore. The hostel was very social, with a great the hostel in a fantastic spot in the old town of Vegueta. The volunteer room was a bit small for 11 people. There were also cockroaches in the kitchen, but they are working on fixing it. Despite some downsides, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and social experience!

Overall an amazing experience with the best people ever. I was able to explore Gran Canaria a lot and even making 3 day trips to Madrid and Barcelona during my 2 months here. The working hours were respected so far but sometimes it really felt like we were treated as full time workers who get paid and not as volunteers. Also the organization could be improved on some aspects and the overall cleanliness. I would still definitely recommend this experience 100% and would do it again any time.

I would defenetly recommend the experience. The managers and volunteers were super nice. Asking for individual prefrences for the weekly schedule was never a problem. After 4 days of work I always had 3 days off. The tasks were easy, most of the time we had to make sure that the hostel is clean. The volunteers from the hostels (jungle, the hostel, compass) were connected through whatsapp so you will always find someone to spend time with.

I had an amazing time during my stay at the hostel! ☀️The best part of the experience was definitely meeting a lot of wonderful people from all over the world. The hostel is part of a group of three hostels, which means there's a big number of volunteers—this was fantastic because there was always someone around to hang out with, making it easy to connect with others. The work itself was manageable, although there was a change in management during my stay, which led to a bit of disorganization. However, the new manager is very kind and I'm sure things will continue to improve.
