Shifts could extend up to 9 hours. The host changed the job description once I had already arrived at the residence. So neither the description nor the agreed hours were accurate.

This person and previous give me 2 star feedback person stay with and speak behind my back. They think chat, eat with me etc as a work.I wrote exchange culture is extra thing. They are cooperate with and told me to give bad feedback.
Their need was the same to get free hotel and foods no work.
I don't want to accept it.
So I said Its okay you will write whatever.
She leave her broken suitcase lastly. Its illegal but she didn't care.
So I took the video and send to the worldpackers as the evidence.

Personal experience - may differ for others. Listing said 18hrs/week, but the host added mandatory 3hr the guest house 'talking shifts' + cooking (35+hrs total). When questioned, he said talking wasn't work, but kept it scheduled, and didn't give any option. Major red flag: pressured me multiple times, including late at night on my day off, to promise good reviews or leave immediately. I felt unsafe and left earlier than expected. He also deleted my chat history with him on WhatsApp and marked me as a "no show" to block me from writing the review. Please clarify expectations carefully and be cautious.

The work is easy, doesn't take long (mostly cleaning guest rooms, washing dishes, laundry). The food he cooks is really good! Numazu is a nice town, but be aware that the house is in a residential neighbourhood and, apart from the beach, everything else is kind of far. I'd recommend staying with another helper to not feel too isolated, but I liked having my own room. I must admit that I didn't like how messy the house was when I arrived and the pile of accumulated dishes I had to wash but I felt more comfortable later as I was keeping the house clean. It's a nice volunteering for a short stay.

Jun is very friendly and welcoming. He cooked a lovely breakfast and dinner for us every day. The house has everything you need, worth noting that the room will feel small if 2 people are staying. The hours could be better specified before arriving as I did not realise the work is done usually between 11am to early afternoon, making it hard to go on daytrips etc. You can see mount fuji from the town which is special, but the tourist spots are around 2 hours from there so not possible to visit while working. Jun was flexible with the work and overall I enjoyed the experience.

Jun is a very sweet and welcoming man! He makes beautiful Japanese meals for dinner and was very accommodating for my vegetarian friend that was volunteering as well, The work is super easy and doesn't take much time, just mainly cleaning up the dishes and light house work and helping with the upstairs guest house (changing sheets and light cleaning of the rooms) when guests check out The house is 300ms from the beach, park, 7-11 and supermarket so in a very good spot. It's a very quiet neighborhood so a good place to go if you want to rest and have a lot of time to yourself

I had an overall good experience staying with Jun. He is a friendly and kind person. The food was amazing, even as a vegetarian! Another plus was that the workload was quite light, which gave me plenty of free time to explore the area. Since the place is on the countryside, it could maybe make you feel a little bit isolated, especially in winter when it's cold and rainy, so I was happy to have another volunteer there at the same time. Also, I would recommend to request pictures of the house beforehand, to get a better idea of the living situation and see if it matches your expectations!

Had a comfortable stay with them, thank you so much for making my first Worldpackers stay so good! Host is genuine, and I felt safe as a solo female traveler. He has a young daughter and a very sleepy mouse/hamster, both very cute. He seems genuinely interested in where you're from and even watched videos of the country he thought I was from beforehand. He also cooked delicious Japanese food for me to try. Room is traditional ryokan-style with tatami, a foldable single mattress and pillow. Aircon has heating for winters. Has a good view of Mount Fuji from the window too! Will def stay again:)

I had a lovely time staying with Junさん. The chores are as described on his profile, all very easy and not too time consuming. You'll have plenty of time to spend your day however you'd like. I loved getting a sneak peak into Japense the guest house and all the home cooked meals were an absolute highlight for me. I felt very comfortable during my stay and had a lot of fun chatting about all the differences between our cultures. Can definitely recommend.

This was one of the volunteering activities that I loved most. Jun is a spectacular host. He accepted my last minute request even though there was another volunteer on the way. He cooks wonderfully and I had the pleasure of enjoying delicious Japanese cuisine. He took us cycling and seeing the city and also hiking to see Mount Fuji. It was all very fun. The work is very good to do. My room was comfortable and had a beautiful view of the mountain. Near the house there is a beautiful beach and sunset to watch, an onsen minutes walking. The experience was truly incredible. Thanks for everythin
