Katitawa is an independent primary school founded in 1977 and located in the indigenous Andean village of Salasaka, Ecuador. The school is designed to create a place where the children and adults can learn, while also creating an educational model that promotes the cultural identity of students. Descripción: Volunteers pay 30$ a week, from which food is bought on the market to cook for the whole week; the rest of the money is used for maintenance such as gas, electricity, wifi.

Programa detallado

Volunteers help teach English in the local school in the morning and then give private lessons in the afternoon. As a volunteer, you will live in a Hostería Pachamama (a volunteer house) where you can prepare the lessons, cook, and spend time with other volunteers or work online.


Actividades & Turnos

You can have a unique experience of living in an indigenous village in Salasaka and travel around Ecuador on the weekends (Friday is free). The village of Salasaka is a community still keeping its traditions; there are many cultural events you can see and experience.
