La Experiencia
We are a couple of animal rights activists running a vegan activist non-profit NGO in Portugal. As part of our organization's work we run an Animal Sanctuary where we have our multispecies family, and where we accommodate animals that we rescue from abuse, abandonment or death permanently or temporarily until we find them suitable homes where they can live forever safe and loved. We have now over 150 animals.

The shelter became a home away from home. I had an incredible time looking after all the different animals. You got to know the animals and their own personalities. The other volunteers were a joy to be around and always communicated what needed to be done to ensure all animals and people were happy. Noel and Alice are truly inspirational and Chantal made me feel so loved. I would highly recommend staying here as you will learn so much about yourself and become at one with the animals ❤️

My time at the shelter was everything I had hoped for and more. The work that you do is extremely rewarding and seeing all the beautiful animals in such peace and tranquility is truly something else. Alice and Noel are super friendly and accommodating, creating a safe space for volunteers. I hope to comeback one day soon to continue contributing to this project as it will always leave a special place in my heart 🫶

The four weeks I spent at the shelter were truly unforgettable. I learned so much about animals, how to take care of them, and how to live with them as equals. Even though I thought I already knew a lot about speciesism, there was still so much new to discover. Here, animals always come first, and that's something you should be aware of before coming, because not everyone is used to this approach. But for me, it was a beautiful and transformative experience. I'll miss every soul I met here – whether they walk on two legs or four. I am looking forward to come back one day.

I really enjoy my stay in the shelter , i almost never see the owners but the volunteer are so great , we are all close and matilde and chantal are really really great leader. the animals are so happy here and every life count. i felt so love here it was so cool. 🥰 i will recommend it to anyone !

It was a great experience! I learned a lot and really grew as a person. Living mostly off the grid gave me greater compassion for those around the world who live this way full-time, and it made me excited at the possibilities of more sustainable living. Seeing Noel and Alice really living their values and making a difference in the world was inspirational. The work was hard and sometimes there was miscommunication, but being so close to the animals every day made it great. Make sure you are prepared, read the reviews here and on Workaway, be a strong and flexible tree and it will be great.

Prepara documentacion y pasajes necesarios para el voluntariado.
Confirma tu viaje para tener toda la seguridad de worldpackers.
