My experience in the center of Mondulkiri was really positive. Being away from big cities allowed me to better understand the local culture. Everyone was very welcoming to me. It is absolutely worth to give up some comfort for this beautiful experience

I had an amazing experience at the organization! I got the opportunity to travel around the country to visit their province schools which was amazing in so many ways. I can't recommend the province schools enough, you really get to see how the Cambodians live their everyday life in the rural, tourist free areas. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. Although food, accommodationand and facilities are basic this kind of felt like a part of the experience - living in a way that resembles that of the Cambodian people in some capacities.

I spent 3 weeks teaching English, computer and management to students from 5 to 25 years old. It was an amazing experience having the chance to live with the students, cook with them, practicing English in their free time and also teaching to them during the day. The students were incredibly welcoming and grateful. I think you will have an amazing time there, if you create your own opportunities for teaching, engaging with the students and being able to put your comfort aside for a little while ! (Which was totally worth it).

I had an amazing time at Takeo center with the trainees and students. It was an incredible experience. I got the chance to get to know the culture while teaching English to children. The facilities are very basic but if you are an open minded person, it will not be a problem. Everyone was so kind and friendly. I really enjoyed my time there.

During my time as a volunteer at the organization school I experienced connection with students and educational staff.. Each day brought with it new lessons and different situations, such as working with local and international volunteers, helping in the development of projects and also participating in activities to improve the school's facilities. . It was a trip that reminded me of the power of the organization and the importance of giving of myself for the benefit of others. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have been part of this community. It is a place full of love and peace.

It was a pleasure working with Diego. Everyone in the team here loved his personality. He's very friendly, open-minded, flexible to do different kinds of work. While he was here, he was involved with so many different types of work, from fundraising, designing to painting rooms.

Another thing which makes Diego very pleasant to work with, is that he smiles every day. There doesn't seem to be a bad day in his life. So, he brings to joy to other people.

We all wish to have Diego back in our community again in the near future!

I was in a province center, not too far from Phnom Penh but the life there is completely different to city life, my colleagues and the children were amazing, there's no luxurious amenities, but the experience being there is more than everything, the main task is teaching English, but sometimes you need to help cooking, cleaning, gardening, painting or some other kind of activities, but those are implicit in your volunteer commitments. My time there was more than amazing, the manager and trainees becoming like a family and of course I want to be back soon!

Volunteering with AHH was a rewarding experience, especially in Busra village, where I felt I made a real impact as an English teacher. In Phnom Penh, I gained valuable insights into the organization's operations through outreach work. However, be prepared for challenges with accommodations, as they may not meet your expectations. Bringing extra funds and asking about living arrangements ahead of time is advised. Despite this, I built strong connections and learned a lot.

Thank you for your candid feedback, Mikal! You brought such dedication to both your teaching role in Busra and your outreach work in Phnom Penh. It's especially valuable that you shared insights about the accommodations - this helps future volunteers prepare better. Your adaptability in handling both rural and city environments, plus your Excel skills that streamlined our grant writing, made you a great asset to our team. Wishing you the very best ahead!
