My two weeks at HOJ were awesome! I met so many amazing people and the work load was totally doable with enough free time to enjoy beautiful George Town. I felt at home there during my stay, the vibes of the other volunteers and the guests are just incredible. I'd stay there again any time! 🤗

I've had an incredible time at the hostel! It's a big and social hostel with daily activities so it's easy to get in touch with and socialize with the guests. We were a big team of volunteers which felt like a little family on top of that. My stay was during Chinese New Year which is a big deal in Georgetown and the owners organized events around that that were so much fun!! The work was quite simple reception work and hosting activities every now and then. All very reasonable! The only thing that I was missing would be more kitchen appliances other than the fridge and hot water :)

HOJ has been my favourite hostel I've volunteered at, the people and the vibe make this place unique and homey. The shifts were posted the day before so it was difficult to plan out my weeks. All the hostel activities were great for socializing and I had fun hosting them as well.

My experience at the hostel was okay. When I arrived no one knew I was coming. For the first week I was there, there was a problem with a long term volunteer which made the feeling of being there not so good. the hostel is a very social hostel and can be a bit party sometimes, the hours agreed were respected as well as the days off. Overall and besides the problems it is a very chill experience, and recommended if you want to meet people.

I had an amazing experience volunteering at the hostel that I extended my stay! The daily tasks are so straightforward (checking guests in and out, taking payments, answering questions and running events) and the work hours are manageable. The hostel has such a chill vibe and you have loads of downtime to explore George Town and the surrounding areas (I don't think I saw half of what I could have when I stayed). I'd highly recommend volunteering here!

I am so happy that I had the opportunity to volunteer at this place. The team, the place & the energy was amazing. The staff is very lovely. It's the perfect balance between activities and still having enough space in the hostel to chill. Joining the hostel activities is fun & you can really explore Georgetown. I even extended my stay because I felt to comfortable & I really enjoyed the city. Whenever I am around I would love to volunteer again☺️😃

I had a really good time in HOJ. work in reception it's really chill, the environment it's friendly and you meet travellers from all over the world :) was my first time working on reception and I'm happy I learned this new skill! We have a room for the volunteer staff and it's really comfy. I rest a lot since I've been travelling for long time, was a nice place to chill down and was my house for 2 weeks. If u want to be chill and make friends, I truly recommend 💚

Good hostel to volunteer at. 6 days of 5 hours work per week - usually on reception, occasionally running activities and events. Very chill place to work, relaxed and most people that come through are sound! Would recommend.
