Help us with some repair to this estate, once a place of healing

Overall, my husband & I enjoyed our time with Raymond/Ilaria. I think it's important to state that the work is demanding & requires heavy lifting or some "dirty work", come prepared. It took a few days to get comfortable in the place, but once I was doing something I knew I could do, I felt better about the experience. To note - the closest cafe is a 20 min walk through the wooded trail (beautiful walk). The closest grocery is 40 mins. We didn't have a car and relied on Raymond to go to town for us to join him (only happened a few times). I recommend a car. The other workers were great too.

The beautiful Podere Sasso was built in 1354 with several iterations of restoration and/or updating over many years. With that, it was a great place to learn or improve multiple skill sets as there is always work to be done. My wife and I really enjoyed the experience, but unfortunately did not get to see many projects completed in the end. Focusing on long-term care projects to benefit the future of the property would have been so rewarding.

I recommend the place for couples or broke, as a single traveler I fell isolated and alone, the hosts leave the house for days, no others volunteers, many days alone, far from city. Also be sure to have internet on your phone (buggy internet at house) and you must know how to cook. I felt disapointted because the owner only check for results of my job, no clear instructions, he said that I must look for youtube videos, but the only way to learn stuff is doing, not watching youtube videos. Problably I had bad luck in the period I were there. Room is good, Ilaria is an amazing cooker, Ray is fun

We had a great time at Podere Sasso. Ilaria's cooking was absolutely amazing and we had so many fun experiences. The pizza party in their pizza oven with professional pizza chefs was definitely a highlight and an amazing cultural experience. We also loved meeting all the other volunteers. Raymond is a relaxed and fun host and is respectful of your hours. We had a great time making videos for him.

I had a good time working here! The host family is very nice. The cooking was great and it was a nice way to meet other travelers. This was a good first Worldpackers experience for me overall.

I had a wonderful experience at the home. From the hosts to the volunteers to the locals, everybody I met made an unforgettable impact. Raymond and Ilaria truly made the villa feel like a home away from home, so much so I ended up staying an additional week. The work is tiring but definitely doable and is rewarded with Ilarias incredible cooking. Highly recommended.

Despite the fact that this has been my fifth experience it doesn't mean that it's been less challenging or interesting than the previous ones, totally the opposite... I never imagined having transformed an unexploited area into an amazing and unique garden also carefully preserving its natural elements. Added to this, both Raymond and Ilaria his wife are super respectful and polite with spontaneous smiles always ready to make feel everybody quite comfortable. There's another relevant aspect to be mentioned: Ilaria prepares the best Italian food I've ever tasted.

To start, Raymond's property was very beautiful and surrounded by lush nature. We were excited to read that it was an old property once owned by the Templar in the 1350's. The guest house we stayed in definitely showed it was built back then, and was not the cleanest. We aren't picky, but even for us, it was hard to stay there. Although we were curious about the history of the land, we weren't given much information. Lastly, it was too secluded for us. We want to add that Ilaria's (the wife) cooking was phenomenal. 10/10
