Help with everyday work at Buddhist temple lodging

Minobu is a Buddhist city on the very country side of Japan. It is a nice experience if you like nature, hiking and quietness. The staff is very friendly and respectful. They do many cultural activities and you can participate. I learned a lot about Yamanashi and japanese traditions. Be aware that it is a hotel job, the rhythm is fast and you must learn and do many things but once you get used to it, it's very simple. I made incredible friends and personally I recommend doing this volunteering!

The host is a beautiful place with a beautiful environment. Unfortunately, its very isolated, very few activities outside of working. So it feels less like a vacation and more like just minimum wage work. WH visa holders can get a paid position, but after taxes and rent that takes 60%, you wont have much, unless you work crazy hours. Management and communication is very difficult. Usually you know your shift only few days ahead. Staff doesnt speak much English and gets angry at you for misunderstandings, so you have to tread very carefully. This place is a bit of a trap. So take care.

I had such a good time in the host. The host provided many cultural experiences. There were people from around the world volunteering and working there and we had so much fun working and hanging out together. The volunteering work was mostly cleaning rooms and washing dishes, as well as helping with preparing the dishes for the restaurant and meals for the staff. Usually it wasn't that much heavy work, but sometimes it did get a little busy. All in all it was definitely worth it, just as described, and sometimes even better than expected! I'm grateful for having had this opportunity!

The host is the perfect place if you're interested in meeting new people and wants to experience working and living with locals. The place is nice, people are lovely and welcoming, however keep in mind that the work is not a light volunteering activity to fill up a few hours per day, but an actual hotel job. The working rhythm is quiet fast, everybody will expect you to work and learn quickly. With that said I had a great time in the host and Minobu and although I was tired at days, I still enjoyed my free time traveling, doing different local experiences and had a great time with everyone
