Working at the shelter has been a really great and enriching experience. I've learnt a lot about animals in general and the tasks are varied and interesting. Everyone has been incredibly kind, both the managers and the other interns I've met. I can only recommend the shelter!

My experience at Recate has been amazing! The managers are so knowledgeable & kind and the facility itself is incredible 🌞 I didn't realise how massive it would be before arriving! There is such a variety of animals here and what I love the most is the fact that their purpose here is to create a real, positive impact in the world. The big focuses here are rehabilitation as well as the sanctuary - for non-releasable animals 🦜 there are also other interns here so it's very social + the food is so good!!

I had a really good experience at the shelter in Bosque Escondido. The people were kind and welcoming and i learned a lot about the animals, their enrichments, about the shelter conservation. It's quite remote, and you spend most of the time in the forest. It can also be a nice change from the everyday life. And even on your days off, the group often planned some activities together, which i found really cool. Theres's also a bar with a pool nearby. Overall it was a cool and educational experience!

Really enjoyed my time there, it was a really safe and enriching experience. Learned a lot about tons of animals! There was a big variety of work assignments. And I really like that they are continually making things better for the animals there. The managers there are really great and made the experience wonderful.

This was one of the best experiences of my life is not the best! Costa rica is magical and the shelter wild life too. An special thanks to Jeanne Marie who is the best boss anyone can ask for! Excited to come back! Wish it never ended :)

I had an incredible stay at the shelter and I definitely recommend volunteering at this special place! You'll meet lots of other volunteers from all around the world and have a fantastic time with them at work as well as in your leisure time. In addition to game nights, we often watched movies in the on-site cinema, chilled by the pool, and went on trips together on our days off. There were always new, interesting work assignments, and working together with the international colleagues and supervisors always felt very harmonious and fun.
