A piece of paradise, super-diverse project in Amazon Rainforest

I loved my time at the farm:) It's in the middle of the jungle, everyday you have lots of free time to do activities like going to the river, hikes, visiting villages or playing cards with other volunteers. The work is sometimes hard but also fun and you can definitely learn a bunch of new skills. Thomas also puts in a lot of effort to make it a special experience for everyone and organises things like Pizza Nights and night jungle tours! Just don't get bit by a bullet ant if you can!😂 But I definitely would recommend this experience to anyone wanting to to just be in nature :) Thanks!

My stay by Thomas at the Hacienda was gorgeous. Everything was kept simple, of course, but it's the perfect place to get a bit of a jungle feeling :)

I greatly enjoyed my time at the farm and in the Amazon! I will caution it is not for everyone though. Thomas was kind and hospitable, especially providing as much food as we asked (vegetarian diet, sometimes dairy and maybe a bit of chicken). He showed us around the jungle on his property and a nearby waterfall and gave us recommendations when we went exploring around the area. The work was a bit harder than I and some other volunteers expected, but I liked learning about sustainable building and construction. If you are ready to live in the Amazon, you will enjoy your time here!

The work here is really diverse. John came for a 2 week period when we were doing more building, construction and farm work than usual. In the last 2 weeks we have done weaving with banana fibers, molding clay to make ceramics, building a metal forge to make knives that people can take with them as well as making coconut shell bowls to take home. John worked harder than most people which was appreciated. However, we encourage everyone to work at a pace with sufficient breaks to be comfortable.

This experience was overall good and I learned a lot! Our work schedule was respected and communicated well. However, sometimes the tasks and other expectations were not explained clearly enough which led to some minor miscommunications. The work was challenging at times but I learned useful skills. During some of the more difficult tasks, our safety was not prioritized enough. The nearby town was a cute and eventful town, however it is a bit farther than I expected, so we only got to visit twice within two weeks. If you are seeking a place to be in nature and learn skills, this is for you.

It's unfortunate that Grace and her friend Madeleine did not have as great a time as everyone else.
Past Worldpackers walk the 25 minutes to either of our 2 nearby native towns every single day, to play etc. If a 25 minute walk is enough to discourage you, then maybe it's not for you.
We take safety seriously here, with 0 safety medical visits.
The broad range of tasks and types of experiences we offer with minimal confusion is very fondly appreciated by most of our Worldpackers.

I would recommend this experience with the right expectations. There are very few food options, so you need to get creative. The farm is very remote, so there isn't much to do without walking a long way or paying for a ride. But it was nice to rest and be immersed in nature. The work was hard, but it was cool to learn new skills and sustain building/production! However, I did feel like instructions were often not clear (regarding work or other expectations). It also felt like Thomas didn't appreciate any of our work. Overall the experience was an adjustment but rewarding and fun!

It's unfortunate that Madeleine and her friend Grace did not have as great a time as everyone else.
We love our Worldpackers, as reviews show.
We have a Sushi night, pizza night etc, once every week.
We have had past volunteers walk the 25 minutes to either of our 2 nearby native towns everyday, to play games etc.
Madeleine seemed to really struggle to keep up with a very calm hike. We offer so many tasks and types of experiences that most love and fondly tolerate slight hiccups.

The volunteer experience was wonderful. I made new friends and stayed in a place surrounded by nature, with rivers and waterfalls—we went hiking whenever we could. It took us about half an hour to get to the nearest town. If you're creative, the food can be delicious; but if you don't know how to cook, it can be a bit challenging. The accommodations are comfortable, unless you're not a fan of roosters crowing all night. But overall, it was a truly beautiful experience.

My experience at the farm flew by! During the week, we worked on a variety of projects including landscape work, making coconut oil, general community cleaning, planting coconut/pineapple trees, and harvesting. On the weekends/afternoons, many of the volunteers would explore nearby communities, hike to waterfalls, play fútbol, take a mototaxi to Lamas, and swim in the river. I spent a big chunk of my time cooking- the volunteers cooked all meals together so it took a bit longer to prepare. I would recommend bringing lots of bug spray/long clothes because the insects were no joke!

Jungle experience✅. The area and the general vibe is great to be at. Thomas is great company and it truly felt like working with a friend group. You never surpass your hours and everyones energy levels are respected. The work is sometimes very heavy but very rewarding. Everything you need is available and we made some great meals with the few ingredients we had. Its amazing how thomas build this place in the middle of the jungle, you will see when you get there. If you're searching for a great experience and you don't need luxury, I recommend this place strongly!

Those two weeks were a super experience. The place is beautiful, there's a river near to bath and it's really quiet and chill. The tasks are nice, not too difficult. Thomas is really nice and is there to help if you need something. You're not too lost in the jungle but you still have the chance to connect with nature. ☀️

The work Thomas has done to build the farm is impressive. He is resourceful and seeing how he approaches different tasks was a great learning experience, especially given this was my first time doing hands-on work. Furthermore, the tasks I worked on were varied which kept things exciting. We had 15 people staying there at our peak. Although I wouldn't change my experience and enjoyed the company, that many people can be overwhelming. If you're looking for alone time, this might not be the place. Overall the experience was lovely and I'd recommend it to anyone with an open mind!
