This was my first Worldpackers experience, and I genuinely had the time of my life. I immediately felt at home here. The other volunteers and guests I met were incredibly kind and genuine. I had so much fun working on social media, and I would strongly recommend this opportunity to anyone in marketing who's looking to take a career break or travel. It's also an amazing place to learn Spanish and try surfing! I can't say enough good things about the Gijón the hostel. ¡Muchas gracias por invitarme!

My stay in GSH was great, the hostel is an amazing city, the hostel is a big house, with everything you need, it's easy to feel at home, i was there during the low season, so it was a bit more chill, the work was very easy, there are a lot of activities to do with the other volunteers and the guests, like surfing, biking, doing sports or going out to party, a had a lot of fun, and i truly recommend

This experience was one of the best because you are located a little outside the city, yet you are right next to the boardwalk. With the bikes provided, you can take them into the city or if you want to be more secluded, just go the other direction. I met amazing volunteers and locals as well. Loved this experience and highly recommend!

The hostel was my first volunteering experience and I wouldn't have asked for anything more! The hosts were super welcoming and created fantastic vibes. The overall vibe of the whole hostel was just like one big family (with guests, volunteers and management). Being the low season tasks were simple, with different tasks to help get the hostel ready for the high season. I have created memories at this place that will stay with me for a lifetime.

The hostel is rated so highly on worldpackers for a reason! I had a great start to my year volunteering at GSH. I met so many open and interesting volunteers and guests and Gijón is a perfectly sized city with enough to do. The work itself is well organised and was very calm during off season. Mareike, the manager and Ivan, the handyman are great at what they do. The main beach is about 15 mins away but you need just 5 mins through a park to get a view of the ocean along the cliff. Highly recommended!!

My purpose was to practice Spanish and go surfing... and I improved both. So I'm very happy :) I'll always be grateful to the host to have given me the opportunity to spend 4 weeks here: GSH is home!

This place is one of a kind. I feel like it attracts only the nicest people with the best vibe, whether its volunteers or guests :) Since my first moments here I really felt welcomed and included. The work was more than fine, mainly because I came in low season which is more chill in comparison to summer months. It was truly a pleasure to spent one month here. The hostel offers a lot of activities like surf, paddleboarding, bikes, closest beach is 3 min from the house, and Gijón is a hidden gem of northern Spain to me :) I definitely recommend, thank you GSH for this beautiful experience ♥.

This was my first WorldPackers / hostel experience and it was amazing. The house is awesome, really starts to feel like a home after you get comfortable. The tasks are straightforward and easy to learn. I met other volunteers who I know consider to be some of my closest friends. If you want to join a family, learn to surf, and explore what Gijón has to offer this is the hostel for you. I can't recommend this hostel enough. JUST DO IT! You'll create life long friends and unforgettable memories! Huge shout out to the other volunteers and staff who make it such a welcoming place.
