There were some communication issues and different expectations about the volunteering tasks from various family members, which caused some confusion and a bit of disorganization. However, overall it was a good experience—the host and his family were friendly and attentive. They welcomed me into their family circle, took care of me, offered their company to visit the mountains, and generously shared their life stories and culture.

I had a really great time staying with Nelson and his family. The area is beautiful and there are good hiking and camping opportunities in the mountains. I got to practice my spanish and hear a lot about the lives and traditions of the people. Its a place to enjoy the mountains and the culture of the andian people. Regarding work and tasks it's very flexible and there are options of both relaxing and working as it is mostly up to you how you spend your stay.

If you want to immerse yourself with a Quechua family for a week in the Andes, I recommend this experience. The family was generous with their knowledge and patient with my questions. Be prepared for rustic living conditions and in return you can more deeply appreciate the history and customs of the region. Work included groundskeeping at the neighboring ruins, gathering wood for the stove, and feeding the pigs. In your free afternoons or days off there is amazing hiking right in your backyard. My Spanish improved and I got to meet other amazing volunteers from all over the world.

Nelson and his family were so kind and welcoming to me, I felt so safe and well cared for while I was staying there. My time with his family was a great opportunity to disconnect and recharge in nature. The work was very light and easy, and I was left most of the day to myself. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quiet, safe place to unwind and disconnect from the busyness of life.

We had a very nice time atthe community. We did Social Media and it was nice to produce the TikToks. Nelson and the family is very kind. We would recommend the stay! Also, there were some points we didn't really like: -The food is not very good (sometimes the family eats better stuff, you get the cheap food) -Its overpriced, especially if you compare it to accomodations in Huraz -No water during the day, which nobody told us in the beginning -In our opinion they don't treat the animales very nice Still recommend! The days we worked were nice and also there are a lot of hikes around!

We really liked our stay at thethe community, helped with social Media and had a very authentic Experience. The Family was super nice and helped us out whenever we needed Help. Unfortunately, there were also some downsides of the stay: - the food is Not very nice, Sometimes the Family ate better and gave us the cheap food (mostly potatoes and rice) - it's rather expensive If you compare what you get vs what you would get in Huaraz - there is Not really a room/space where you can warm Up or Just relax - the Treatment towards their pets wasn't to nice (maybe thats Just us) Still recommended!

It was a nice experience to stay with Nelson. I got to experience what it is like to live in a rural village. It was difficult to adapt at first, but I felt welcome even though the family speaks Quechua between themselves. Life is quite primitive in Wilcahuain and can be lonely in the evenings, especially if you are the only volunteer. But the surroundings are beautiful and you learn a lot about the Quechua culture. If you don't mind being alone and want to experience the village life, I would highly recommend volunteering here!

My time at this location was a bit uncomfortable. Due to various comments, behaviours, and requests made by the host and his family, I felt disrespected and uncomfortable during my time here. At some times I was made to feel unsafe due to some behaviours from the family.

It is regrettable the negative comment you have made, Enuma. As a host, I was always attentive to you, asking you daily about your well-being in the house and with the family, to which you always responded positively. You even shared details about the health of your sister and your parents. I sincerely believed in your words. I get the impression that your comment is intended to harm my project. Your attitude does not reflect professionalism; it is important to express the discomforts in each country, given that customs and traditions vary. Perhaps the culture of my locality and country is not to your liking, but it is essential to maintain respect. I take this opportunity to alert other hosts: at first everything seems favorable, but in the end the comments are adverse. Thank you!"
