If you want to know what a farm life feels like then the farm is the right place for you! I learnt a lot about sustainability and picking chestnuts in the orchard with the sun rays passing through the branches felt like living in a fairy tale. Feeding and petting the animals of the farm, especially the funny banthom chickens, was the best part of the experience along with having tea on the balcony watching emus and kangaroos visiting the farm. John and Linda were really welcoming and having dinner together along with other backpackers made me feel like having found a second family:)

John and Linda are stargazing hosts! I've learnt a lot about sustainability and I felt welcomed in their house together with other backpackers. The tasks went from chestnuts picking and peeling to feeding the farm animals and weeding the gardens but also helping in cleaning the farm stay. I loved the fact that the jobs were versatile and the constant contact with the nature. I highly recommend this experience to live something unique and local. I wish the best to this two fantastic hosts and hope to see them again one day :)

John & Linda are both lovely people and were very welcoming to myself, Luke & Ben. Working on the farm has been rewarding and I have found it interesting. I have learnt a lot about the many uses the chestnuts have! I enjoyed the variety of tasks that you can do across the day.

This was my first time volunteering with Worldpackers and I loved my time at the farm. I learned so much in just a month not just about chestnuts but also alot about sustanability. John and Linda are very kind, good listeners and invite you with open arms at the farm. Most of the work is outside. I was there during peak season so there was alot of the farm picking but I also got to peel, grade, feed the animals and make some of the products that Linda and John sells etc. I am very thankful that I got to volunteer at the farm. Thank you!

The farm is an absolutely wonderful place to stay! John and Linda are polite, generous and entertaining hosts. The work is outdoorsy and physical mostly (particularly during season) but on rainy days there are always indoor jobs, like peeling/grading chestnuts and cleaning. You will find a home away from home with full access to the kitchen, and lovely (sometimes chestnutty) home cooked meals every evening. The accomodation is basic but comfortable, and on your days off you can go into town/s to explore :) I can't thank you guys enough for the fulfilling month I spent with you!

Staying at the farm Brea Farm was my first volunteer job and I am extremely grateful for this wonderful experience. This is the place to be if you're looking for outdoor physical work. You will be immersed in the process from the farm to the numerous products that John and Linda sell on their farm. Flexibility on your part is expected on rainy days, especially during the harvest period. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city and be immersed in nature, you've come to the right place!

My experience at the farm has been unmatched! John and Linda were such gracious hosts who included me in every activity possible, from excursions to local towns and fun climbs up Centennial Tree on my days off. John and Linda set very clear expectations as hosts which in turn made me feel very comfortable to work around the farm. Although my trip coincided with the off-season, I still managed a very busy schedule especially with the Nannup music festival which was amazing. Life at the farm was extremely beautiful and introspective, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

The farm is in the middle of the nature, you are surrounded by wildlife which is amazng especially the birds .... It's far from everything so it's better to have a car. It's a farm so there is always something to do ! John and Linda are nice . We think it's better to be there when it's chesnuts harvest if you want to learn about Chestnuts . The farm is very peacefull !

The farm is it's own unique little world! John and Linda had other farm hands there to work and guide me, as they had volunteered there before, and everyone welcomed me with open arms! From the start John, Linda, and I had open communication about expectations, interests and concerns. Since it was off-season, I didn't da lot of the farm picking but there was still plenty to do! Animal care was daily (feeding, watering, collecting eggs). Other jobs included planting, weeding, and tree/ bush pruning, and watering. Bedroom/ toilet are basic and shared, and meals are in the main house!

Nicole is a lovely, open, friendly, funny, smart young woman, who made every task given a fun experience. The animals loved her and adopted her straight away, as did we.
Nicole has since been back a second time, and we look forward to her third stint at our farm in a few weeks. Can't wait. :)
