Significance of the Project
In an age dominated by Swiggy, Zomato, and instant online food delivery, our generation is slowly drifting away from the kitchen. Traditional cooking practices—especially tribal and indigenous Bengali food knowledge—are fading from everyday life. Many young people no longer learn how to prepare age-old dishes that carry the wisdom, culture, and identity of our communities. Bengali food has lot of secret health benifits which can heal and cure diseases.
This project has been initiated to preserve, document, and celebrate the traditional tribal and Bengali cooking methods that are at risk of disappearing. These recipes are not just food—they are history, memory, healing, ecology, and the essence of our ancestral way of living. Losing them would mean losing an entire cultural archive.
By researching, recording, and sharing these culinary traditions, we hope to:
Safeguard indigenous knowledge for future generations
Revive interest in home-cooked and culturally rooted meals
Highlight the nutritional, ecological, and sustainable aspects of traditional tribal foods
Create a digital heritage library accessible to all
This project is our collective responsibility to ensure that the wisdom of our ancestors does not vanish but is passed on, celebrated, and practiced by the generations to come.
Once this project skeleton is successfully implemented same skeleton can be adopted for other regions to save and preserve these knowledge and wisdom.
