VOLUNTEER ABROAD

Hello and welcome! My name is David, and I’m the founder of Helping Your Community Forum (HYCF) a grassroots organization I started in 2020, shortly after graduating.

Growing up in this community, I saw many young people with talent and potential, but very few opportunities to grow. After completing my education, I made a decision: rather than leave in search of a better life elsewhere, I would stay and create change from within.

That’s how HYCF began driven by a simple but powerful mission: to uplift our community through education, skills training, and shared effort. Since 2020, we’ve been working with youth, women, and families to help build a stronger, more self reliant future.

When you volunteer with us, you’re not just helping with tasks you’re becoming part of our journey. We believe in cultural exchange, mutual learning, and genuine connections. Whether you’re supporting community projects, teaching, farming, or simply sharing your time and ideas, you’ll be making a real impact.

We welcome volunteers who are open-minded, respectful, and passionate about helping others. In return, you’ll gain meaningful experiences, new friendships, and a second home with us.

Looking forward to meeting you!

— David, Founder of HYCF

Great experience for anyone interested in NGO work on women and youth empowerment. I worked on a women’s economic project where we gave soft loans and trained 10 women in small business skills. I also met 3 volunteers from Canada working at a kindergarten. On weekends, we explored Malawi’s culture, visiting places like Mushroom Farm and Lake Malawi. A perfect mix of impact and adventure!

I had the chance to volunteer at St. John’s Hospital in Mzuzu with 8 of my friends from college, and it was an amazing experience. From the start, everything was well organized. David helped us with all the preparations and even welcomed us at the airport. He’s such a kind and thoughtful host we felt really well taken care of, with clean, comfortable accommodation and great meals.
If you’re thinking about doing a medical internship, this is a fantastic opportunity in Malawi. On weekends, David planned some awesome trips for us we got to visit Nkhata Bay and explore Nyika National Park. S
