Tambor del Llano Eco Lodge Natural Park

If you like the countryside, animals, well-preserved nature, dark skies to see the stars, and meet people from all over the world, in one of the most beautiful corners of Andalusia this is your place. You can help us develop our project, while you take the opportunity to learn Spanish, and get to know the white towns of Cádiz and Málaga. We are in one of the most beautiful cultural and natural landscapes in Spain. With an excellent climate. Our project is a challenge, we are trying to develop a KM0 ecological farm, which can be self-sufficient, and demonstrate that it is possible to live in a remote rural area, taking advantage of the natural and cultural resources of the territory, and leaving the smallest possible footprint. Respecting the environment, and creating a sustainable exploitation, compatible with the wild fauna and flora of the Natural Park where we are, while employing local people, so that Grazalema continues to be a living space. Help us make it possible. Come be part of our family, and if you like horse riding, come and listen to that drum…. The sunsets in our stellarium (ancient era), the paths that start from the farm itself, and that allow you to enter the wildest mountain ranges of the Grazalema Natural Park, if you like to walk and discover flora, fauna and a exceptional vegetation, you will be in the right place.

We are a family to which various professionals have gradually joined to offer the best services to our clients and hosts. We like nature, walking, horses, the stars, producing the food that we eat directly, meeting people from all over the world. We like to be hosts, and share this beautiful corner in which we have been fortunate to settle with all of you. We are a small enthusiastic team that is determined to move the project forward. Raul, Nano and Ernesto have joined our family to tend the horses, the flock of sheep, the orchard, and our visitors. Beli and Ani, they take care that everything is clean and tidy, Ana Belén and Isa cook and serve an exceptional homemade meal, using whenever we can products from the farm itself, or nearby premises, Carmen helps us organize the whole team , and takes care of the reception and administration. You will help us mainly to welcome visitors with hospitality, to dedicate time to them, to show them the farm, the facilities of the farm, the trails they can do, or the places they can visit, to discover the stars at night, since they feel at home. If you also want to help in the garden, water the plants, or feed the animals, we will be delighted that you help us, and teach you the experience that we have gradually acquired on the farm. You will be part of this family, as one more. Our place takes its name from the poem Luna Luna by Spanish poet García Lorca. The quartet goes: The horserider approached, beating the drum of the plains This is a beautiful literary figure to describe the sound made by galloping horses over the Grazalema plains, which karstic hollow rocks filled with caves. A sound you will often hear in our place!

I had the most amazing experience at Tambor. The work is very reasonable- I loved working in la finca. The team are so welcoming. I would say definitely practice your spanish before going, but improved so much when I was there anyway. Half way through my trip I got sick- Nano and Álvaro took me straight to the doctors and I was given antibiotics. They took great care of me. I met some amazing volunteers and made some great friendships. Will never forget it!

This was my first experience volunteering and I couldn't have asked for a better one! The area is incredible, as are the people here. Alvaro is a very kind and welcoming host and speaks English, which helps a lot in the midst of mostly Spanish speaking staff. Although we couldn't always communicate with words, everyone was very welcoming. They were very helpful in my quest of learning Spanish and it's insane how much I've improved in a little over a month. If I could stay longer, I definitely would!
This area is truly peaceful and has a magical energy. I recommend everyone who loves nature!

I wouldn't have expected to be this hard to leave Tambor, but all great things come to an end, isn't that right? Living here was like joining a big family; thanks to Caty and Beli for the coffee breaks, Ana and Delia for their company and food, to Nano for only speaking Spanish to me, to Raúl, who never refuses help (ask at your own risk), to Ángeles, for teaching me and being so nice. And of course, the biggest thanks to Benito, my matcha bestie. I'll never forget the kindness you showed me.
If you're looking for a good place to escape reality, this is the right place for you.

One of the best places to volunteer! The accomodation is perfect. A huge bedroom for two with the bathroom in it, with tables, closets and heating. The food awesome! I could eat the homemade creations from the chefs and they were always looking after my needs. The landscape is very beautiful with plenty of hikes around and, although it's kinda isolated, they were always helping me in case I needed a ride to the nearby towns. But the best was the staff. They made me feel as part of the team, helping me develop my skills...I felt like I was just one more. I love you guys and I'm gonna miss you!
