Sweet Home in Haiphong, stay and teach English

Volunteering with us is more than just teaching — it’s about becoming part of our family and our village community. You’ll have the chance to share your knowledge of English with local children who are eager to learn, while also discovering the warmth, traditions, and hospitality of rural Vietnam.

We provide a welcoming homestay experience where you’ll enjoy authentic Vietnamese meals, your own private room, and plenty of opportunities to connect with local life. With flexible working hours and two days off each week, you’ll also have time to explore the countryside, nearby cities, and cultural sites.

Our project is perfect for travelers who want to make a meaningful impact, experience genuine cultural exchange, and create unforgettable memories while helping to open new doors for local children through education.

My name is Toan, and I run this project together with my family in our small village near Hai Phong. We are passionate about education and believe that giving children the chance to learn English can create many new opportunities for their future. When you volunteer with us, you will be welcomed as part of our family. We respect and value every volunteer, and we do our best to make sure you feel comfortable, safe, and supported during your stay. You will share meals with us, join in daily life, and experience the kindness and hospitality that Vietnamese culture is known for. We are always ready to help with anything you need, whether it’s adjusting to the local environment, preparing lessons, or exploring the area. Our goal is that you not only give your time and skills to the children, but also take away unforgettable memories and real connections with our community.

I had an excellent exchange and I definitely recommend. The host and his family are super nice and generous people; I'm really grateful for everything they offered me. The house- where you stay with the family- is nice and clean. You get delicious lunch and home-cooked dinner and the kitchen is well equipped. It's a nice and quiet area with rice fields in the outskirts of Hai Phong and there's a good gym nearby. The work was really fun and chill and the kids were super cute. The teacher I worked with (Anh) was also amazing. Work hours were well respected and even fewer than described.

I had an amazing time during this volunteering ! Mr T and his family were wonderful hosts and made me feel at home and the big plus were the delicious meals. I also had the chance to meet the teachers, who were super welcoming and friendly and who stayed present for me if I needed anything. The school works is quite chill and requieres you to have a medium english level, the mission is more about introducing them english and being present for them. On my free time, the teachers of the center were really caring, they showed me around and made me try some vietnamese food. Thank you so much !!!

It was difficult to get any communication from the host in the lead up to our volunteering. When we arrived on the bus, the host couldn’t pick us up (despite free pick up offered) & wasn’t there to meet us (arranged for another helper of the centre to be). The accommodation was below acceptable, the door of the room was semi see through and didn’t shut/lock. The bed looked recently slept in, the bathroom was well used without being cleaned. I understand it’s free accommodation but this was way below what we would expect to be offered in return for teaching English.

I had a great experience teaching English at the center! The students are so motivated and thankful and Mr. T and his family are very kind and welcoming. The dinners are always incredibly delicious and in a nice atmosphere. The accomomdation is very Basic, but you can see that on the pictures in advance. The evening classes at the center with children, youth and adults are well organized and I always teached together with a Vietnamese teacher from the center. The school classes were sometimes spontaneous in the countryside! Thank you for hosting me as a volunteer, I would come again!

Mr. T and his entire family welcomed us very warmly; they are very friendly people. We were able to learn about the culture thanks to the month we spent here. We also met local people whom I now consider friends. Overall, it was a great experience.
Additionally, if you come, Mr. T will provide you with a semi-automatic motorbike, as the center of Haiphong is far from the place where the classes are held (which is also where you stay).
