Somos Hostal
We're one of the few places in town that work with volunteers, so you'll get to meet other backpackers and explore Antigua doing different activities, all while being kind to your wallet. What's important to us is that you have a good time and take our guests along with you when doing so.
You'll be surrounded by a team of friendly locals, happy to share their culture with you and learn about yours, and you'll be roommates with fellow backpacking volunteers, having the best of both worlds. Volunteering with us also opens the door to other opportunities in Antigua, with the businesses we partner with.

Instantly, I fell in love with this hostel and the experience! The location is perfect and Antigua is charming with so much to explore. The hours are good, and the job consists of reception, bar, and activities 5 days a week. The schedule is organized and each week is different which makes the experience more fun! A beautiful, clean, hostel with a private room for the volunteers. I became close friends with the other volunteers. Special thanks to Pampa, Andrea, and Yonathan- you guys are amazing and I am so grateful for you all! I recommend this experience, I want to return. Muchas gracias :)

Emma was an absolute joy to have on our team! She brought great energy every single day, was always willing to help with anything, and worked hard without ever losing her smile. She was amazing with guests, super responsible, and quickly became part of our little family here. Our only regret is that she couldn’t stay longer! We’re very grateful for everything she did and hope she comes back to visit (or volunteer) with us again soon.

Somos is a fantastic place to volunteer. The team is fantastic; everyone is friendly and welcoming. I felt like home. There were four days of training in the beginning, which was super helpful. The tasks are at the reception, bar, and hostel activities, and they are fun and not difficult. I also learned a lot of new things. The volunteer room is shared by four people, and it's very similar to the guest rooms with pod-style beds. At first, I thought the minimum stay of three weeks was too long for me, but I ended up extending my stay because I enjoyed it so much! Antigua is a nice city.

Volunteering at Somos was an incredible experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone considering it. The tasks are fairly easy, the hours are fair, and the team is genuinely amazing. Pampa and Andrea go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, comfortable, and part of the community. The dorms also offer plenty of privacy, and the hostel is consistently clean and well-maintained. Overall, it's a social, laid-back place that feel like home. I’m so grateful for my time here and the unforgettable memories and people I met along the way:)

I loved volunteering at Somos! The hostel is so nice and the people are so friendly and helpful, so I felt super welcomed straight away. It was a perfect place for my first volunteering experience at a hostel :) will miss everyone there!

It was my first volunteering experience with Worldpackers, and Somos set the bar very high. It was an incredible experience for me — I loved the hostel, it’s super well located, the people were amazing, and I was able to make great connections with the other volunteers. If you get the chance to volunteer there, do it!!!
