Now under new ownership, we have freshly renovated the entire property (new photos to come very soon!) We are a team that cares about your experience as a traveller--encouraging you to explore the city while also maintaining professionalism that is sometimes hard to find in a hostel setting. We want you to feel safe and at home while you're with us while also feeling like you're on the vacation/work-exchange of a lifetime! New Orleans is known for its culture, art, music and eclectic atmosphere and we try to incorporate that into every part of our hostel. We hope to create an environment that allows you to make lifelong friends and memories!

We treat volunteers as part of our family. We try to be considerate of everyone and be as flexible as we can with scheduling around their needs while still maintaining a beautiful, clean, and safe hostel for volunteers and guests.

It was my first time volunteering, and it was a wonderful experience. Site 61 is a peaceful hostel, just a few minutes walk from the streetcar. The manager, Cass, is a beautiful person who genuinely cares for everyone there. As for the work, it was easy and as agreed. The other volunteers and guests made my stay even more enjoyable. I spent a month there, and I have many fond memories. I want to thank everyone for making my stay at Site 61 a memorable one. Much love to you all.

Site 61 is wonderful and somewhat against the grain hostel that is much more like a family/group Air B&B than your traditional party style hostel. In my month working there I got to make wonderful connections with both the staff and various guests. It's not located as centrally as some hostels but the nearby street trolly makes the French Quarter easily accessible. My only complaint could be that the hostel doesn't have an oven which was more of an issue of space than anything done on the part of the staff.

I just loved this hotel. I'm sure you will feel at home. The environment is clean, the rooms have no more than 6 beds. The hostel is halfway between City park and French Quarter.
