Segoro Lestari Sea Turtle Conservation at Serang Beach, Blitar, East Java

Imagine waking up to the soothing sound of ocean waves, spending your mornings helping tiny sea turtles find their way to the vast ocean, and your afternoons basking under the tropical sun. "Beach Days and Turtle Ways" is not just a volunteer program. it’s a soul-refreshing escape where your love for nature meets unforgettable adventure.

Set on breathtaking coastlines, this volunteer experience offers participants the chance to directly protect endangered sea turtles. Volunteers engage in a variety of activities, from safeguarding nesting sites and monitoring hatchlings to cleaning beaches and educating local communities about marine conservation. Every task, big or small, plays a crucial role in giving these incredible creatures a better chance at survival.

But the magic doesn’t stop at conservation work. When you're not helping turtles, you're free to immerse yourself in the beauty of the beach. The balance between meaningful work and leisure time makes this experience truly special.

Beyond the sun and sea, what makes "Beach Days and Turtle Ways" unforgettable is the connection you build—with nature, with fellow volunteers from around the world, and with yourself. It’s a chance to slow down, to live intentionally, and to leave a positive mark on the planet.

So if you’re seeking a volunteer journey that fills your days with sunshine, your heart with purpose, and your memories with endless ocean horizons, join the "Beach Days and Turtle Ways" adventure. Together, let's make every wave count!

Our staff are highly skilled in English communication, making every "Turtle Talk" presentation smooth and engaging for both local and international audiences. During each session, they deliver the information in both Indonesian and English to ensure that everyone can fully understand and enjoy the experience. This bilingual approach is especially important as we often welcome tourists from around the world who join us during the heartwarming baby turtle ( tukik ) release events. Their ability to bridge the language gap helps create a more inclusive, educational, and memorable moment for all visitors.

I had a great time living and working at Serang Beach at the turtle conservation space, even though there were no turtle hatchings when I was there. I got to paint a mural for the space, and it was such a joy living with Dita and her family. The food was very yummy and the overall vibe is very relaxing- a great escape during an otherwise busy trip!

Mad is a calm and thoughtful person. She truly seemed to enjoy the peaceful natural surroundings. Mad painted the baby turtles in the quarantine pool area, and the work was completed within four days. Amazing work, Mad. Thank you, Madison.

Dita’s place is wonderful. Even though I came in off season it was a nice place to relax, meet the locals and eat delicious local food made by Melinda. Make sure you go there in turtle season, that would’ve made the workexperience a lot better😅

Two sea turtle egg incubation boxes have been replaced. It has been incredibly helpful. He is young, very energetic, and always makes time to run for exercise around the beach and the hills here. Thank you, Johannes. 🌿🐢

I had a great time at Serang beach! A week was the perfect length for me. I stayed in a room at Dita’s house (there is also a guesthouse a short walk away). Dita and Melinda are great cooks and everyone is really kind :) We even made batik one day which was awesome! It was very peaceful and calm; there’s some hiking nearby and a river to swim in, though you can’t swim at the beach because of the strong waves. The work was very relaxed, to the point that I felt more like a homestay guest than a volunteer, but i also visited in the off season for turtle hatching so it may be different May-Sep.

Besides enjoying the sunset 🌅, she also helped arrange plants in the mangrove area 🌱. She is a kind person and always shares her smile 😊 with the local community.

Our experience at the conservation was really great. Even if we could not see any turtles (we can't control nature), we were happy to contribute, help and learn about them. The three members of the team are incredible and really kind, the food is amazing and the work really easy. Our stay was really relaxing, peaceful and close to the nature. We loved it and recommend it without any hesitation.

Although she seems gentle, she showed strong energy 💪 while leveling the sand in the conservation area 🐢. All activities were carried out very well, especially collecting the plastic waste scattered everywhere ♻️🌿

The few days I was there they made me feel good, always worrying about my well-being and comfort. Everyone was adorable and welcomed me very well! The project is very interesting, they are very committed to what they do and little by little raising awareness among the entire population.
