Pilliga Pottery Creative Farmstay

Our Pottery Creative Farmstay is an operating farm with native and domestic animals, dams, fences and creeks surrounding the property. We are 100% off-grid with our own water supply, solar system, septic system, rubbish removal and deliveries. We are truly self-sufficient out of necessity, our belief in a greener future and our can do attitude. We’d like to invite you to take part in our mission for sustainable living and stay with us. You can help us and learn during your stay by observing and following our way of life.
The reward is a greener future for everyone.

Pilliga Pottery is the ideal spot if you're ready to embrace a community-driven lifestyle in the heart of the Australian bush. Here, we support and care for one another whenever help is needed, and we enjoy spending time together. While our self-sufficient farm doesn’t provide luxurious amenities like long showers or hairdryers, we do offer a unique opportunity to be creative, connect with nature, and experience the beauty of Australian wildlife.

We’ve come a long way with this farm and our pottery. But we still see so much potential in it. Our dream is to see this place as an enduring inspiration to others for many generations to come. People have lost something in this modern world and we see our place as a monument to the fact that life doesn’t have to be all about money, material things or wearing the right clothes. This place is about caring, working for the love of it, expressing yourself through creativity and working with nature rather than against it.

Pilliga Pottery felt like home during my stay. It’s a beautiful place surrounded by nature, made even more special by lovely people. Things might feel a little unclear at first if a task hasn’t been assigned yet but everything becomes smoother with time. The property is full of charm. People are always happy to help and encourage you to ask questions if you’re unsure about anything. Since the place is self-sustaining, it does come with its own set of limitations, but that only adds to the unique experience. I’m so grateful and I truly enjoyed my time here. Thank you so much for everything!!

I enjoyed my time at the pottery. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. I went in expecting a bit more opportunity to get off the property and go see more things, but that was not the case. The property is very remote and you can only go somewhere if you or another volunteer has a car. Expect to stay in the property for your entire stay.
The work you do can be all over the place, I helped with babysitting, cleaning, and in the pottery and clearing hiking trails while I was there. I would recommend this to someone who I looking for a remote experience in the bush with great people!

The property and the surrounding nature are beautiful but you need to be aware that you're pretty much stuck there if you don't have a car.
I enjoyed the peaceful environment, learned a few things and had fun game nights with the other volunteers and staff members (Kimi and Joel are truly the best).
The food was amazing and the working hours fair. The only thing that kinda bothered me was that I applied for kitchen/cafe helper and did anything but that. I really don't mind being flexible and helping where it's most needed but this should be communicated beforehand.
I enjoyed my stay :)

My experience at Pilliga was among one of my favorite experiences yet :) ughh The people, the other Worldpackers, the views, the pottery. I cannot recommend this experience enough, with that in mind it’s only what you create. The family will love and accept you as one of their own if you try. The beauty is unmatched but you have to go out and find it. The pottery was my favorite part of this, but I worked by myself in the pottery after hours.

My experience at Pilliga was great. The place itself is magic (immerse in wild nature) and so are the people who live there. I got the chance to work in the kitchen with a wonderful person, Kimi. If you are interested in pottery, you should definitely consider to go: you'll have plenty of time for practising with very special teachers at your side. Since I'm not interested, sometimes I honestly felt a bit bored after work, but that's the other side of the coin of living in such a remote place. All in all I'd higly recommend to go if you feel the call. Thank you all for the beautiful experience
