MUTE Hostel Milfontes
We are located in one of the most beautiful spots in Portugal, the Costa Vicentina, miles and miles of coast that in the winter is the perfect place to relax, enjoy your surfing and the beautiful hiking trails of the region, and in the summer it's awesome to enjoy the beach, hot weather and some partying of course!
We are a group of friends that already have some experience, not only working in hostels but some volunteering experiences as well, so we know exactly how to be good hosts. We expect responsible workers that take the tasks seriously but we can also expect a lot of fun and people that will show you the best time possible!

I’ve been in Mute Milfontes Hostel for a month and it’s been an amazing experience. Our team was perfect, we made a really great connection between volunteers. Also Valeriia was really nice, she’s helpful, caring and she knows how to do literally everything. It’s the ideal experience to meet new people from all over the world. The only thing was the length of the shifts, but the jobs were pretty easy to get used to. Communication with some members of the restaurant staff was sometimes a problem. In the complex very great experience, I entirely recommend it and I’ll bring with me the memory🫶🏻

I overall enjoyed my time in Milfontes. I made great friends with other volunteers and was able to go to the beach and enjoy surfing during my free time. Also, Valeriia does so much for us and the hostel.
However, the workload was quite intense for a volunteer, often being left alone in charge of various tasks. The hostel could use some improvements and more staff to help it run more efficiently. We could use another Portuguese speaking staff to help with reception.

I was at MUTE Porto Covo (they have 2 locations). The location of the hostel is beautiful! Sometimes there was quite a lot of work with running the restaurant. The staff house is a serious/ illegal health hazard with black mould all over the bathroom walls. Management has been aware for months, but the constant reply is "they are working on it". These conditions actually got their previous WP page taken down, but it is still the same. This place has potential & the people are nice, but volunteers don't feel cared for. If you want to apply, I urge you to ask for photos of the house.

Mute is a big family in which I took part since from the first day. The staff are all amazing people and I couldn’t ask for a better view, the work shift could be boring depending on the hours but there’s always someone to be with. The vibes are incredible and there I saw the best sunset of my life. All togheter was 9.5/10 just for some misunderstanding we had with the house the volunteer were in, but they are committed to make it right. I now have friends from all over the world and I can call that place home because I know I can go back whenever I want🫂❤️

Spending a month volunteering in Milfontes was such a great experience! I loved the cute little town, the amazing nature around, and meeting some really nice people along the way. Valeriia is super kind and always there to help out whenever something unexpected happened at reception. Just a small note: the hostel could benefit from having more staff during high season. Also, the restaurant manager’s mood was a little inconsistent at times. But overall, I had a really good time and it’s an experience I’ll definitely remember!
