La Esperanza, Granja Educativa Integral
My name is Alex Pacheco. I am an Agronomical Engineer with a Master’s degree in Natural Resource Management and a PhD in Sustainable Agriculture from a prestigious German university. I have over 25 years of experience as a learning facilitator and in alternative education methodologies.
I lead the creation and implementation process of La Esperanza – Comprehensive Educational Farm, alongside an interdisciplinary group of friends and colleagues who share this vision.
I started La Esperanza project about 3 years ago, with the vision of implementing what I have learned and taught for the past 34 years. I live at the farm with my partner Diana, three beautiful dogs (Athos, Tequila, and Arena), and our cow Josefa.
La Esperanza is a comprehensive educational farm that supports those seeking a life more connected to the earth. Here you'll learn by doing: participate in real-life farm tasks, share knowledge with the community, and discover how to apply sustainability principles to your own life.
We are a welcoming family excited to open the doors of our project. We will accompany your time here, along with your personal contributions to La Esperanza, and most importantly to have a good time.
Our day starts at 7:00 am by feeding the members of the farm: Chickens, Sheep, Pigs, Rabbits, Fishes, and Ducks. During the morning, we do necessary jobs that the farm needs such as horticultural tasks, gardening, general maintenance, agricultural tasks, etc. During the afternoon and evening, we carry on projects based volunteers’ skills and interests. For example, flora and fauna conservation in the area, ecotourism activities, working with social media, and any other fresh idea that you might bring!
My experience in the field will allow you to learn not only the theory but also the hands-on experience. I have a great interest in sustainability as a form of living; sharing what I know is part of my vision of life.
