Originally from Cleveland, Ohio (yes, that Cleveland), I’ve spent the last 16 years calling Hokkaido home. Before settling down in the quiet coastal town of Iwanai, I lived in Sapporo and Hakodate—so I know my way around a bowl of miso ramen and a snowy backcountry trail. In a past life, I spent a year and a half wandering through Asia, Africa, and South America with a backpack, questionable maps, and an ever-growing appreciation for outdoor adventure. These days, I’m all about skiing, hiking, sea kayaking, and mastering the fine art of grilling things over fire.
