The location is absolutely beautiful – surrounded by nature and stunning beaches. You’ll be walking a lot. The nearest supermarket is around 40 minutes on foot, so I recommend bringing some snacks with you. Food is provided, though dinner is usually served quite late, which might take some getting used to.

Kelly is very kind and welcoming, and the children are lovely to be around. However, Enrique made a few strange or inappropriate comments about another woman, which affected the atmosphere at times.

Overall, the location is beautiful.

Stella The most important thing is how much we enjoyed ourselves together in such a beautiful place. A misunderstood comment shouldn’t overshadow the experience; in the end, what truly matters is keeping an open mind and making the most of all the good moments we shared here. We look forward to seeing you in Austria—our doors are always open. With more than 500 volunteers, there are more than 500 ways to interpret the same comment!

positive:
-amazing volunteers from all over the world, cultural exchange
-interesting conversations with camino pilgrims while at reception
-breathtaking location with beaches in walking distance
-flexible 4-hour shifts, lots of free time

negative:
-tasks often not clearly explained, causing confusion
-Enrique(host), made sexist, offensive comments to a fellow volunteer girl

I would have rated this experience 4.5 stars but because of Enrique's behavior which is absolutely unacceptable and should not be tolerated in a volunteer setting, I feel I must lower my rating to 2 stars.

Overall, I had a good experience.
The shifts/tasks varied each shift, no day ever felt the same - from cleaning rooms, gardening, reception and dishes for the restaurant.
The location is good for exploring local beaches and towns by foot. Some public transport available. I would recommend bringing some basic snacks with you. The food provided was good and filling.
The wifi isn’t always reliable for working remotely, however it works well in the mornings.
Thank you Enrique & Kelly.

Hello Laura,
Thank you so much for all the help you gave to the children. Your great attitude and the empathy with which you connected with them truly made a difference. You are a patient, dedicated, and very kind person—qualities that positively impacted our daily lives.
We really enjoyed having you with us, and you were always a great support for the family. You will be welcome anytime you want to return and share more moments together.
Sending you a big hug and thanks again for everything.

I had a great time volunteering, the location is great with nature and stunning beaches. The volunteering group was so great and I felt welcomed. You need to be very flexible because organisation is chaotic and some details on site don't match reality. There were slight problems with the food (very basic and repetitive). There were bigger problems with the host, because through his actions he seemed to view volunteers as a lower category of people and he made some very sexist comments to a fellow volunteer which left me shocked. Before that I would've given it 4 stars but this was too much

Camila , Over the years, we have welcomed more than 500 volunteers, each with their own point of view. Due to differences in language, culture, age, and personal circumstances, it is normal to have a wide variety of opinions about the same situation, as if seen from 360 degrees of perspective. What may seem white to one person might be black or gray to another, and this diversity enriches the experience.
We are glad you enjoyed everything,

I felt very disrespected and undervalued.

Great nature and great other volunteers.

However, Enrique treats people badly and says “not to take it personally”, makes pressure to finish tasks fast even if there’s nothing else to do later, asks for very nonsense tasks, speaks about the female volunteers in a sexualized way and seems to purposely choose bad food for the volunteers.

I had a very bad experience at the kitchen after he was forcing me to talk about my love life, then made me say a coworker looked handsome, talked about my legs and when I was stretching said “I’m still a man.Haha”
