Himara Seas The Day

With us, you will enjoy numerous benefits. Each day, you will interact with a diverse array of people from around the world. You can enhance your verbal marketing skills and crowd leadership abilities. Moreover, you can immerse yourself in Albanian culture and learn some Albanian words. Most importantly, you will have the opportunity to experience the beauty of our coastline from its finest point.

My name is Nikolla, and together with my older brother Johnny, we run a family business offering boat trips in Himara. We grew up sailing and fishing along our coast. Our team consists of 4 captains, including my brother and me, and 2 other local crew members. Additionally, we have 5 sales entrepreneurs, including my sister. We primarily seek female volunteers as we share rooms with other girls. Our accommodations, located on the ground floor of our house, are just a 5-minute walk from the city center, where the offices and port are situated. Each room is equipped with a fridge and a washing machine. For meals, we provide one meal per day, and for breakfast, we provide you with an allowance 1-2 days each week to purchase groceries.

Firstly Niko & Dea were so welcoming and always willing to help with everything 💕💕 Getting to spend the day on the boat and live in this beautiful little town with even more beautiful people is something I’ll always cherish! The accommodation is basic, but they are working to make it better. Also you spend a few nights a week (till 11:30) handing flyers! It’s an amazing opportunity and I’m so grateful to have experienced it 🥹

Volunteering in Himara was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! From day one, the team welcomed me warmly and taught me everything with patience. I helped with boat tours, greeted clients, shared information, and even became a tour guide — such an unforgettable experience! Himara’s beaches are some of the most stunning I’ve ever seen, with crystal-clear waters and breathtaking landscapes. I made amazing friends I’ll keep for life, and I’m so grateful to Niko, Dea, Joni and all the captains for making this the best summer ever! 🚤💙🏝️ Seas the Day! ⚓

Good experience overall. The beach is right in front, and the town is small but really beautiful with amazing views. Work hours are respected, and the hosts are helpful, though shifts are sent the night before, which makes planning ahead a bit hard. Most work was office/flyers, but I could join boat trips if there was space. We didn’t spend much time with the host family as they were busy during high season. The best part was meeting other volunteers, we had a lot of fun together and made great memories. Some downsides, but a rewarding experience if you love the beach!

Coming back to this volunteering experience in Himara felt like coming back home. 💙 I had already been here once and loved it so much that I didn’t think twice about returning. The team is wonderful, welcoming and fun — I felt part of a family from the very first day. Working with the boat company was light, joyful and full of special moments. I truly recommend this experience to anyone — it’s a place to learn, connect and create memories for life. Thank you for everything!

I had a mixed experience volunteering with seas the day. Dea and Nicko were lovely and the boat trips when we got to go on the boat was amazing. I wasn’t expecting to work three night shifts per week until 11.30pm alone handing out flyers in the street. Shifts were received usually late the day before which made planning hard and because of the shift times there weren’t often many volunteers off at the same time to hang out. The accomodation was quite basic but in a really great location next to the beach. I would recommend if you like lots of beach time and don’t mind working nights.

Thank you for your feedback. From the beginning, we explain to all volunteers that what we ask for is flexibility, since this is a busy seasonal job and we work every day. We never asked you to work extra hours.
We also feel it’s important to mention that most of your concerns seemed to be more about wanting time for parties rather than the actual volunteer tasks. We wish you the best in your future travels.
