Global Village
We are a small independently run hostel in Belfast. Currently rated number 2 in Northern Ireland on the hostel world.
We like to have people work with us who are friendly and outgoing, who are here to get something from this experience, socialise with the guests and staff, create a buzz and be a contributing character and presence to the hostel.
In exchange for free accommodation in our 6-bed mixed staff dorm, you will be required to work up to 3 hours a day either cleaning the hostel and making beds in the morning or 6-8 hour reception duties during the day plus 1-night shift per week which is from 10 pm to 8 am.
After your night shift you get the next day off. We are a super friendly and chilled-out hostel with artwork on nearly every wall which guests who are artists have done while they have stayed with us.
We see it as more of a homely feel hostel as the volunteers stay on site and they treat it as if it were their home. We do ask for a minimum stay of 3 weeks so you can learn the ropes and get familiar with the hostel and get to have a real feel for the city.
Hi! My name is Tasha, I'm from Canada and I came to Global Village as a volunteer back in 2014 for a few months and loved it so much that I eventually moved to Belfast in 2020! I have been managing Global Village for the last year and it has been such a fun time.
The owners, Mark and Colette, are lovely fun hosts and are extremely friendly, kind and always go out of their way to help everyone they meet. Working here is really becoming part of the family and Global Village always leaves a lasting impact on anyone who joins the team.
If you choose to stay and volunteer with us you will have full unlimited access to all the facilities here at GV including Netflix, Xbox, 4 guitars and 2 amps, a keyboard, and cajones! Free unlimited internet and apple macs, free pool table and Foosball table, free kitchen facilities (2 ovens and stoves, 2 sinks, microwave, pots, and pans and cutlery) free pasta, spices, rice, bread, jam, cereal, milk, and free laundry facilities!
We only have 48 beds so it is considered a small hostel but we are very concentrated on the guest/volunteer interaction. This results in a much better experience for both guests and volunteers. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, we look forward to hearing from you and possibly meeting you!
Cheers,
Tasha
