FilmsFarmSchool (Suan Silp)
A home for travelers who want to ease off, for thinkers who want to rest their mind, for artists who want to find workspace, for any creator who is in need of a quiet space to be productive, a place to rest, refresh, pray… and just for anyone who wants to regenerate and take a break.
Suan Silp Binsi (Films Farm School) offers plenty of energizing space to share, create, heal and relax with friends or by yourself. On the farm land you can mingle with like minded people in a studio to make art or sit and read a book in the tree house.
Explore the area using the bamboo canoe on the river next to the farm, use the book room, play music or use the central kitchen with a clay oven to make pizza or bread.
Join us on a hike in the forest with our dogs in the morning or join mom cooking in the kitchen or do some gardening with dad.
A wood workshop invites to be creative with wood or clay for the kids or go foraging wild food in the nearby forest guided by a team member.
Chat and exchange life spaces with the garden owner who wakes up at 4 am to work on ideas until noon.
Around noon lay down in the hammock and rest during the day.
Once the heat eases off in the afternoon you can do physical work- and then go to sleep no later than 10 pm. After that we turn off all lights for the night- so that the fireflies can shine!
How we live at Suan Silp Binsi (Film Farm School): in earthen houses, tree houses, a house made from recycled wood- created by people who participated in a house building course before!
Simple but cute, warm, sincere and sustainable. All houses have access to electricity.
Sleep alone, share sleeping spaces, share bathrooms, eat from the same wood-fired pot like family or cook for yourself- here you can be as independent as possible- so please wash the dishes yourself and bring your own towels.
You can always organize your own activities, too.
Cheers, Nao Saowanee Sangkara
The house is open for you. See you soon in Lamphun.
I am mainly a Filmmaker and writer and I run my FilmsFarmSchool for about 10 years. Together with my parents and changing volunteers we take care of our organic garden, four dogs, wood workshops, treehouses and sometimes kids of the neighbourhood. It is important to us, that our work effects our community positively- we do workshops on sustainable building, develop an community area in Lamphun hospital and currently work on an App that will hopefully support caregivers all over the country in the near future.
Lots of projects for you to help and support!
Many volunteers have helped me over the years to create this space- building houses in workshops- learning and growing together. We have commonly communicated respectfully.
Working hours may vary, depending on the tasks of the day- but usually a full 5 hour day is never exceeded. Maybe one day you help me longer and the other day you will have more time for yourself. I kindly ask for your flexibility.
You are welcome to stay from 2 week2 up to 2 months,or longer lets talk about it!
