We are the proper place if you want to feel you're acting on something. We have different projects going on, all to support the homeless community : from vintage store to cultural events, we're growing, and we like to make new ideas happen !

We, as a community, love to welcome people. It makes sense for us to show a different way to live, a different way to care about homeless by making them owner of their lifes. The life at the community is an experience for everyone that has joined us !

This was my first solo trip and it was everything I wanted it to be! I felt so welcomed right from the start and comfortable throughout my entire stay. The people are really what made my whole trip. The entire team is made up of great people who want you to enjoy your time with them and with emaus. I would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to explore a new culture, meet some great people, while also make a positive community impact! :)

I thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering with emaus - both in Caneças and in Lisbon! Although quite different environments I felt equally welcomed and comfortable in both. I wasn’t sure what exactly to expect from my first world packers experience but it exceeded whatever expectations I did have and I am so grateful for the awesome opportunities that were opened to me! Ophelie, Humberto and the rest of the team are genuinely caring and positive people who checked in with me throughout my stay to make sure I was having a good time and feeling comfortable with the work and conditions! 10/10

Foi uma das experiências + marcantes da minha viagem. Passei entre Emaús Arroios e o Emaús Caneças, onde tive a oportunidade de contribuir com um projeto que tem impacto social. Lá, tudo é feito com propósito: recebemos doações, limpamos, catalogamos e vendemos os itens, num espaço incrível que parece um imenso antiquário.
É uma experiência ideal para quem gosta de colocar a mão na massa e, ao mesmo tempo, conhecer Lisboa e seus arredores.
Agradeço de coração à Ophelie, Humberto, Eva e a todos os voluntários que estiveram comigo. Já quero voltar. 💙

Right from the beginning, I felt genuinely welcomed and part of the community. Everyone was so kind and easy to have a laugh with. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to connect with great people while contributing to the community.
