Probably one of the best experiences of my life! Starting with the staff they’re incredibly knowledgeable and know exactly how to teach you everything you need to work with animals. They’re also very kind and genuinely passionate about what they do. The daily routine includes morning and afternoon activities, and you rotate through different tasks each day. This way, in just one week, you get to experience them all. Personally, feeding the baby lions and working with the giraffes were my absolute favorites!

It was a unique experience in a rural area surrounded by animals. However the food was terrible, and normally only given 2 meals a day instead of 3 like they said. It also would be helpful to have some sort of orientation or a training, another volunteer showed me the facility and day one I was expected to work inside the animals cages and pens which I didn’t think was the safest with no training or instructions. The staff was not very welcoming. Most of them did not speak to me or seem annoyed when I would work with them. Overal not enough and awful food, no safety cautions, unwelcoming.

I had mix feelings about my experience at CTC. When I applied, I imagined it would be a wildlife conservation project, but in reality, it felt like more like a private zoo. Seeing the animals in enclosure was a bit upsetting for me personally, as I was hoping for a more conservation-focused environment.

The accommodation and facilities are very basic, which is known to good in advance so you can prepare yourself. The food provided is also very simple, some days breakfast was just a piece of bread, so I’d recommend bringing some snacks to have it with you.

This place is truly unique and cool in so many ways. Getting to have hands-on experience with different types of animals and learning about their behaviors and habits was really interesting and fun. At times however tasks and the schedule can be unclear and it can be hard getting to know the staff at first. The staff and the owner and his family are really kind once you get to know them and I've had very good moments with them. Improvements include the quality of the food. But I know that there are sustainable plans to improve that so the experience will be even better in the future!

This is definitely an experience I will always carry with me throughout my life! If you are looking for a unique and authentic place to volunteer at, then this is the place. I want to thank the incredible staff who took care of me from day one. The work they are doing is truly amazing! The animals at the center are well taken care of by these people. The center is located at the top of a hill with beautiful hills surrounding it. The location is a bit isolated so you will be spending most of your time at the center. I am very thankful for the opportunity of experiencing the culture of Uganda!
