Creagh House

It's fun being at Creagh during the summer, there's lots of people staying, music and dance, and walks in the woods, and sometimes canoeing. We like to meet people from other cultures. Quieter in the winter, and colder but we generally still have fun 😊 In winter you should be prepared for cold temperatures in the house, we generally live at 14 deg centigrade, except for the main living room which has a stove. Dancing keeps you warm!

You will be treated as one of the family! We work hard but not for long hours. We eat together at least once a day, and sometimes go out in the evening together. Volunteers sleep in a large dormitory room, with up to 4 other people of any gender. We do have a tiny mezzanine available sometimes for couples. Routine is that you will work 4 days a week for 6 hours each day though we can be flexible, for instance if you are working on line you can distribute your 25 hours a week so that you can still keep up with your remote working. We expect you to be flexible too, sometimes you will be asked to work a weekend shift, or start early. Work is all physical, cleaning, ironing , changing beds, gardening, painting, construction, emptying compost toilet cleaning geese pen, chopping wood, stacking turf etc etc

Encontré una familia, amor, música, baile y mucho compartir.
Agradezco enormemente hacer llegado a esta maravilla casa, con Annie, Peter, Gis y los habitantes permanentes y temporales de ella.

Staying at Creagh House was an amazing experience! From the moment you step inside, you feel at home, Annie and Pete (+ Gus and Joe) are incredibly warm and welcoming. The work is fair and hours are respected. Annie is flexible if you need a different day off. What makes this place special is how included you feel in their everyday life. Whether it's joining a music session in Galway, dancing to traditional Irish music, swimming at the lake, or going out for brunch with friends. Music and dance fill this house, and the atmosphere is full of good vibes. I couldn’t recommend this place more :)

Creagh is such a magical place 🍀

Spending time here felt like suddenly being dropped in the middle of a huge and loving family, a wonderful community full of joy, and laughter, and stories to tell.

You're surrounded by music ALL THE TIME, which is already beautiful by itself, and if you enjoy playing any instrument it's also an invaluable learning experience. I improved a lot on the fiddle for such a short time!

I had a lot of fun learning the dances, and swimming in the lake and ocean, and going to sessions, and working too!

Being here was a delight, I really can’t wait to be back! 💖

Fun place to work. People are nice. Annie and Peter are very welcoming. I like to work with Gus. My level of English has significantly improved and I'm more confident speaking with people in English

Creagh was the best place for my first volunteer experience.
It was so fun to learn Irish dancing and go to trad gigs in Galway and Annie and Pete and their sons Gus and Theo were so lovely and welcoming and made us feel at home. The community at Creagh was so wonderful and the other volunteers were wonderful.

The work wasn’t too hard and there was always someone around to offer advice or help if we needed it. The hours were flexible as well which was super helpful.
