Big Style Atlantic Lodge

Welcome to the BigStyle Atlantic Lodge, our favourite place to be in the world!

Bigstyle is an adventure watersports company founded in 2013, and is now best known for our Atlantic Lodge in Co Mayo. From here we host regular weekend retreats offering watersports and outdoor adventure, delicious veggie food, yoga, gigs, campfires and all sorts of craic. All set on the spectacular views of the Wild Atlantic Way.

Coming to work with us will see you in a variety of tasks - housekeeping, kitchen hand, customer relations. You will also get the opportunity to work with us on our famous Big Slice nights making sourdough pizza in our purpose built wood fired pizza oven.

In your down time you will have access to surf equipment and are within easy reach of some of Ireland’s finest surf and kitesurfing spots. If watersports aren’t your thing we have lots of hikes, walks and chill out spots to take advantage of.

The company was built through our love of the outdoors and our want to find an alternative living lifestyle to escape from city life. As a volunteer you will become part of the team and will be part of helping us build a dream that we have turned into reality. If you are keen to experience the outdoors and the West of Ireland then coming to stay with us is an easy choice.

Big Style was my first volunteer experience through World Packers, and it was amazing! The staff is welcoming, and the area is beautiful. There's a great balance between relaxing/spending time in nature and grabbing pints/being social. Even though Killadoon is rural, it's easy to do day trips to Westport, Galway, or islands that are close. The work is relaxed, and you always share your shift with at least one other volunteer. While I was there, 4 volunteers returned for a second time. Between the staff and return volunteers, everyone is passionate about Big Style and has really positive vibes.

I volunteered at Big Style with a friend and we had such a lovely time! From the start, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming and we loved working there. The tasks and hours were always fair. The team was amazing, always finding a way so everyone could have the best time at the lodge. We got to surf, use the dipper and do yoga, which was grand! Also, hitchhiking was much easier than expected, no probs at all.
I am so grateful for this experience and the chance to meet such lovely people. Honestly, we wanted to come straight back the minute we left.. Thank you!!

The experience at Big Style was incredible! It's a magical place on the west coast of Ireland. The work is simple and well-coordinated by the Lodge staff. Weekends are when you have to work more, but nothing out of the ordinary. It also allows you to explore nearby towns on your days off and surf for free. The sauna is also a great feature. A huge thank you to Kris, Paco, Tori, Paddy, Luk, and the rest of the team.

I spent a month volunteering at Big Style and it was an incredible experience. The tasks are simple and even if your English isn’t great, everything is explained patiently and all questions are answered. The staff are wonderful—attentive, approachable, and create a great atmosphere. Everything from the interview was respected: even in busier weeks, days off and hours were always organized fairly. The place is amazing, with surf gear and sauna available. Accommodation is shared on weekends and guest rooms during the week. Overall, a 10/10 experience I highly recommend
