Bar Caléndula

We are in the Camino de Santiago, a very central place in Spain, close to the main cities of the north of the country, located nevertheless in a quiet small town, perfect to meditate or write. It is a place that many pilgrims of different nationalities go through. My bar is very small and is not yet known, we are starting and therefore very excited. We have a small bar.

We need someone to help us for 5 hours a day, the tasks are easy: to receive the pilgrims, chat with them and also clean, pick up and cook a little, not too much. Above all, being with guests or sitting while watching everyone is comfortable, while reading or writing on your desk: the people who pass are very nice and spiritual, they are looking for a smile and a kind treatment on the part of the person who attends them. Honestly it's a rewarding activity, but I need some help, because it's many hours that I have to be in the place.

Este fue mi primer voluntariado y cuanto me alegro!! Silvia es super cercana y atenta, te abre las puertas de su casa y su familia :) Si estás buscando conectar con la naturaleza, descubrir pueblos con encanto, aprender a trabajar en una cafetería, practicar idiomas y viajar por el norte de España este es tu sitio. Además la amabilidad de los peregrinos llena cualquier corazoncito ♥ Tienes facilidades para preparar tu propia comida y me gustó sentir que mis sugerencias eran tenidas en cuenta. Repetiría sin dudarlo. Gracias Silvia!

This was my first volunteering experience and it turned out to be really nice. Silvia makes you feel at home from the very first moment. I met many people from different countries, and even though at first I thought I would be alone, there was always someone volunteering with me. I practiced more Spanish than English and got better. Silvia often invites you to join activities like yoga or going out, and she also asks if you’d like different food from what is served at the bar. I recommend this volunteering to people who are comfortable on their own but also enjoy being part of a team.

Bar Caléndula es un sitio tranquilo, donde los peregrinos pasan por un cafecito y se conectan contigo dejando una súper energía por la buena vibra con la que van haciendo el camino.
La Host Silvia, es un ser de luz, siempre dispuesta apoyarte en lo que necesites, hacer actividades y hacer que tu estadía sea increíble.
La casa es cool, tiene una vista muy linda y de mucha paz. Todas las mañanas verás algo lindo por la ventana. Las estrellas por la noche son maravillosas y los pueblos cercanos tienen cosas lindas que ofrecer.
He estado en verano y el clima un poco caliente pero cool. Gracias!

Mi experiencia en el Bar Caléndula fue enriquecedora. La amabilidad y calidez de la anfitriona desde tu llegada hasta tu partida, horarios de trabajo adecuados y flexibles, disponibilidad para poder cocinar tus comidas, cercanía con el autobús para recorrer otros pueblos o ciudades, y sin lugar a dudas, la oportunidad de hablar con personas durante el día y aprender de los peregrinos algo nuevo a diario. Eso si, importante tener en cuenta la época del año en que vienes al lugar, pues el flujo de visitantes no es recurrente todo el tiempo y de ello dependerán tus tareas. Gracias por todo Silvia

Lamentablemente no pude asistir porque justo el día en que tenía que viajar para allá me dieron respuesta de un trabajo que estaba esperando, sin embargo Silvia fue muy atenta y comprensiva conmigo, lo cual le agradeceremos mucho, espero de corazón que todo vaya muy bien para ella y los voluntarios que pasen por allí
