Aras Ghleann Cholm Cille

Aras is a friendly place and when you volunteer with us you really become part of the family. We had one lady for example who came here for a month and stayed over 3 months. We all cried when she left - for us it was like losing a daughter.

Volunteers are treated as part of the family. We take them around to show them the sights. We tell them about the history of Donegal, they get to meet the cat, the talking parrot, the little Chihuahua.. its like a home from home. Yes we work, but even that is fun. As an example, our vacuum's brand is a Henry, so we don't vacuum, we take Henry for a walk. Making work fun.

My stay in Aras has been wonderful, Leon and Lilian are already my friends and I will miss them but as soon as I can, I’ll come back. The place is exceptional, quiet full of nature and together with my colleagues we enjoyed the beach and excursions to nearby cities. And of course I recommend you to spend a season with Leon, Lilian, their kittens and dog if you want to know the most original Ireland.

I don't recommend it, issues of constraints between differences I didn't have luck this time in aras.

Unfortunately Jardel misrepresented himself, claiming Intermediate level English, while he cannot understand nor speak any English. But that was not the main issue; We could not get him to even make a bed without making mistakes. For example : He did not think a sheet was needed on a bed with a mattress protector. He paid little attention to cleaning and for example left a lufer and used soap in a bathroom and could not understand why that was a problem. So we had to ask him to leave.

The perfect place if you’re looking for a mix of reconnecting with yourself and meeting people from all around the world.
Leon and Gillian are incredibly warm and kind hearted people, always smiling and ready for interesting and pleasant conversations. They’re also very trustworthy and adopt a wonderfully patient and pedagogical approach when it comes to the tasks to be done, something that really stands out compared to many hotels around the world that focus more on profit than people. I highly recommend this place which helped me improve my English and gave me a truly great experience !

Me and Luis stayed there for one month and we can say that it was an incledible experience in a gorgeous place, though one month is too much because after two weeks you have already explored everything. Despite all, the experience was more than positive.
Aras is a very good place to improve and get confidence in the language because you can meet a lot of people from all over the world.
Gillian and Leon are super kind and the work isn’t difficult: only 2/3/4 hours in the morning (with some fast task in the afteroon).
We think that it is an experience that can improve your life.
