My time at Piccapane gave me a real taste of southern Italian life! The work was varied but rewarding, Giuseppe’s meals and friends were amazing, and everyone was kind and welcoming. Giuseppe himself is very uncle-like. Knowing some Italian helps, but gestures and Google Translate go far. There are also a few house rules to remember, so writing them down would help if you're the forgetful type like me. Cutrofiano is a lovely town with great food and locals. A perfect place to learn about rural living, sustainability, and community. I’ll truly miss everyone and hope to return one day!

Increíble Lugar! Giusseppe y toda la gente que trabajan son de enorme corazón! Un lugar rodeando de naturaleza, muy hermoso! Lo súper recomiendo. Ideal para compartir y conocer la cultura del campo del Sur de Italia.

This experience was exactly what I was hoping for with traveling through worldpackers! Giuseppe invites you into his home and into his life completely. He cooks meals that are all with organic ingredients and delicious. He celebrates the local festivals and introduces you to so many local friends and vendors in the area. The work is definitely work, but feels so good to later eat with the vegetables you helped harvest. In our experience, there were always other volunteers as well, so there is ample opporunity to meet other travelers. And only a 30 minute walk to town for some gelato!!

If you want to truly learn about southern Italian culture, learn Italian, and eat good food, this is the place. But be aware that the work isn't that easy. It can be quite tiring, especially if it's very hot. What makes up for it is the kindness of the people. I was very well received here; even the mosquitoes loved me. For digital nomads, connectivity is usually pretty good. It's easy to balance things out.
