Programmdetails
This position supports VfAW’s animal-welfare education and community-outreach projects in Arusha, Tanzania. Volunteers work alongside our team to help implement humane-education activities on the ground. Your main tasks include delivering interactive lessons on animal welfare and empathy in schools and community centers, co-creating learning materials, leading outreach sessions with children, parents, and community members, and coordinating with local partners such as teachers, NGOs, and community leaders. You will also support logistics and facilitation for events and track participation and feedback to help improve and evaluate our programs.
Days in the field vary and require flexibility, as schedules can change quickly. Volunteers work up to 25 hours per week with two fixed days off. We expect a proactive attitude, comfort working in cross-cultural environments, and experience with children in educational or community settings. Strong communication skills, creativity, and alignment with VfAW’s mission are important.
VfAW provides safety and cultural orientation before travel, an in-country briefing upon arrival, and ongoing coordination support, including guidance on insurance, health considerations, emergency procedures, and registration requirements. This role is 100% volunteer and unpaid. Living costs in Arusha are approximately €300 per month (accommodation, food, and local transport). The NGO does not charge any fees. Flights and visa costs are the volunteer’s responsibility. Minimum commitment is one month, ideally three, with priority for volunteers traveling between January and May 2026.
