Volunteer Program at Dar Nomad in Tagounite, Morocco

Welcome to Dar Nomad, a sanctuary of cultural immersion and authentic desert living, located in Tagounite, at the gateway of the vast Sahara. As a family of Berber heritage, we open our hearts and home to volunteers who seek a meaningful experience rooted in tradition, simplicity, and the beauty of nature. Here’s what you can expect from our program:

Program Highlights:
• Cultural Exchange: Live among the Berber community and gain firsthand insight into the traditions, language, and cuisine that define our heritage.
• Traditional Mud-Building: Join us in restoring our 400-year-old home using traditional mud-brick techniques. Experience the satisfaction of building with your own hands, using sustainable and natural materials that connect deeply with the land and environment.

Aktivitäten & Schichten

• Gardening and Farming: Help us cultivate our desert garden, plant new crops, and care for the date palms in our oasis. Discover how we maintain agriculture in an arid environment and learn the true value of water conservation in the desert.
• Artistic Projects & Design: Contribute your creativity through painting and decorating walls using Berber motifs and natural colors, bringing life and soul to our living spaces.
• Culinary Experience: Participate in cooking sessions led by a real Berber woman—my family. Learn how to prepare traditional Moroccan dishes like tagines, bread, and more while enjoying the warmth of our home-cooked meals.

Living Experience:
• Stay in simple but charming accommodations, including private and communal mud rooms and traditional Berber tents.
• Sleep under star-filled skies, away from the hustle and smog of cities, and wake up to the sunlight dancing.
