I spent a fantastic month in this hostel, I met really wonderful people and we had a lot of fun together. Shifts last 7 hours and can be either in the morning or in the afternoon, but then you have 3 days off which you can use to explore the island. Unfortunately in Las Palmas in August there isn't much to do, the clubs aren't the best and the hostel doesn't organize events on the terrace. Also the island is full of cockroaches which can be really annoying at times. Despite this, I really enjoyed this experience and I recommend it to everyone, I would definitely do it again!

I didn't stay at the hostel, I was in Jungle House. It was by far the best month of my life, but it was more the other volunteers whom I was with that made it so. Jungle became our home and we became a family. I highly recommend during summer

My experience at the hostel was absolutely horrible. It wasn't my first experience in a hostel and I was looking forward to another one, little did I know… My arrival was absolute chaos, nobody was here to welcome me, nobody showed me around, they just left me in my room. My first day working was so messy and unorganized, plus I was by myself the next day. The hostel is also very dirty, it resulted in a lack of motivation to keep it clean, and the owners/managers didn't seem thankful at all, they just let you run the place. The hostel is neglected and I was so disappointed.

Volunteering at the hostel was the first Worldpackers experience for me and it was really amazing! The manager Fatima and other volunteers were super welcoming and friendly and also patient with our mutual language barriers since I didn't know a lot of Spanish :) So after getting used to the new routine I really felt at home. The work wasn't at all hard, the tasks were displayed straightforward so everyone knew what they have to do on their shift. Fell in love with Las Palmas and will come back!! Thank You the hostel!!

Let me clarify that I did not stay in the hostel but in Jungle. I also did not work in the hostel but on the apartment team. Overall my experience was OK, but I hope the next one will be better. The workload was not worth just my stay in the hostel as the hostel itself is unfinished and cheap anyways. I quite liked both managers of the apartment team, but the owners themselves were distant and seemed happy to let others run their businesses. A lot of the guests were older men and acted inappropriately w/ the volunteers and during my stay there was no manager in the hostel itself which was messy

Colombus es uno de los hostels, luego hay dos mas. En mi caso me postule al voluntariado del Colombus pero luego me enviaron al jungle. Deberian aclararlo antes. No hay mucha organizacion con la llegada de los voluntarios, en mi caso nadie me recibió ni tampoco sabían que llegaba, no tenia una cama armada. El dia que debia empezar con mis tareas, nadie me explico demasiado comence a realizar las tareas solo por sentido comun. Es demasiado grande el Hostel para que el turno sea realizado por una sola persona. A favor debo decir q son flexibles con los horarios. Me fui antes de tiempo.

My experience at the hostel was really good. The shifts are respected, easy and fun (with the right mood), the volunteers room is very basic, but the atmosphere and location of the hostel are super. The owners and managers are nice, helpful and friendly people; in my case, I was able to learn a lot from them thanks to their entrepreneurial mentality and constant willingness to get involved. Of course there would be things to improve for the volunteers, but overall it was a great experience and I am proud of my choice to have worked here.

That was a great experience. I met there so many wonderful people, who were very friendly, supportive and inspiring. The atmosphere there was awesome. I've gained a lot of new skills. The work was very cool as you can meet new people all the time and cleaning tasks were really manageable. I had a lot of fun working at Compass. I'm very grateful for the time in Gran Canaria, at Compass and the hostel. I highly recommend this place :)

I had the best time here. It was my first volunteer experience. I meet the coolest people and the hostel really created the opportunity for me to see the island. However there was there is always something happening lot of young volunteer women (18-21) and a lot of older volunteer men (end 20's/start 30's) which made for some weird dynamics. It would have been great with more distribution between the ages. We did speak to one of the manager about this. Otherwise I would recommend this place and island! There is always something happening

My experience in the hostel was amazing, the work asked was pretty simple and light and the hours of work was respected. The managers are here for you and will try to make the best for your staying. At the same time the hostel is a perfect place to meet incredible and interesting peoples, you will meet people from all over the world. I recommand this hostel for all the people who want to live an intense experience and create lifetime memories.
