I had a great volunteering experience at A&the hostel! The other volunteers and the hostel staff were true sweethearts and I always felt respected and welcomed. The A&O is rather a big hotel than a social small hostel. So there were no social activities with the guests, but the volunteers planned a lot of fun activities and we got to explore Vienna together. Also the communication with the host was smooth and he was always helpful and kind. All in all I would definitely recommend volunteering at A&O☺️

My experience at a&o Wien was amazing! However, I would like to mention a very important detail to future travellers While it's true that this programme gives everything that it promises , the reality is that you will not be living the most incredible and amazing social experience (which I understand that this is the main reason why a lot of people travel) This is why I recommend reading the messages from the host and doing some research to avoid future problems for both parts. That being said, thanks to Nelly and the staff members for hosting me, you guys are doing an amazing job ❤️

Aww thanks Alberto! means a lot ! Yes! do to the large numbers of guests per week ( 800-900 plus ) the social part in the hotel is not there yet. What I cant do for the hotel social part i do try for the volunteers instead. I love to give tours of beautiful vienna & always give recommended places. When its not so nice out i try to do games/ watch movies together using a projector the hotel has. There is also Comedy nights on our rooftop bar which is a nice social gathering. I do try <3

Hi, I really enjoy this experience because it goes with my goals. Since I started this volunteer program I really wanted to practice German and be able to develop social skills. I met the stuff and they are really kind, Nelly who is the one in charge of the program is always present and motivating us. And we have two days free so we can relax, see the city or just rest. Depends on you. I'm so grateful for this opportunity c:

Hostel well located, with well-distributed tasks, excellent food and private accommodation for volunteers fully equipped. The host NELLY, perfect, he is kind, sweet, friendly and above all very helpful. I'll give him 5 stars! ( It's not the hostel but the hostel, you won't have a connection that the hostel can offer but if you just want a great place to be while enjoying Vienna it's perfect. NELLY, YOU ARE THE BEST!

First of all, Shanka was a really warm and friendly host. My room was very sweet. It was just too hot and the curtains were missing. The breakfast shift was a challenge for me. I had a lot of fun in the other shifts. My colleagues, especially the mens, were really fun and I had great days with my dear roommates Byron, Evelina and Luana. I will miss you very much.. Vienna is a truly fascinating city. This was my first experience and it was definitely worth it. Thank you very much for everything🥹❤️‍🩹🥰

É um bom lugar para ter como base em Viena, só não recomendo ir em agosto, eles não recebem grupos de hóspedes e com isso não tem jantar (o que fazia parte do programa Worldpackers) e isso me decepcionou bastante.. trabalhar com os meninos eram ótimo, infelizmente não posso dizer os mesmo de algumas das meninas da cozinha.. no geral foi uma boa experiência!

My overall experience at A&the hostel was satisfying. I helped with breakfast and coffee shifts, and the working hours were well respected. The accommodation was comfortable, with a dedicated room for volunteers. After completing my shift, I had plenty of time to explore Vienna. There was someone available to explain the tasks but also you can ask the staff, and they will help you. A big thanks to the other volunteers for sharing great memories together!

I had a great time meeting the volunteers and the staff working here. I felt welcomed immediately upon my arrival by other volunteers, Nelly and Shanky. Nelly showed me around the hostel we did several social things together. Just have in mind that the social part was always organised by Nelly, since he's no longer part of this experience, you will need to organise social stuff amongst yourselves The tasks are simple and manageable, especially if you have hospitality experience This experience is good for those who want to stay in Vienna for free, but don't expect comfort or healthy food
