This was overall a wonderful experience, a great way to explore Germany and a nice opportunity to experience East Germany's culture! Here are my tips for future volunteers to ensure you have the best experience possible : - Things won't just come to you in Leipzig! Make the effort to meet new people and explore places to hang out. It'll definitely make your stay more enjoyable! - COMMUNICATE. Whether things are going well or not, sharing your experience with others is important and it will go a long way! My experience was mostly positive. Tasks were clear, the space was comfortable, and I enjoyed connecting with people from different cultures. I felt I contributed meaningfully to the project. Toward the end, a difference in perspectives led to an early departure, which was unexpected but also a learning moment. I leave with valuable insights and gratitude for the opportunity.

I had a very pleasant stay at Five the hostel. The staff members and managers were very friendly and always there to help if there was any issues. The hostel itself is nice and big with more of a hotel vibe, the shared volunteer's dorm is probably the nicest I've had during my time volunteering, so the stay there was nice and comfy. The tasks are very manageable and the working hours are respected. Free breakfast was a very nice bonus. The city is very cute and there's plenty worth discovering. If you have the opportunity to go, you definitely should!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience volunteering in Leipzig! Communication was always quick and clear. Hannah is a great manager - our shifts were exactly as described, and organising time off was flexible and easy if it was communicated ahead of time. The work is not hard, and all of the housekeepers and other staff are so lovely that even on busy days it never felt draining! The volunteer dorm is amazing with plenty of space to cook and hangout. The hostel is also located really close to shops, restaurants and public transport making it a perfect base to explore Leipzig.

I am travelling in a pair and this was our first WorldPackers volunteering experience. Hannah was very communicative and patient from the get go and all the other volunteers and staff were an absolute joy to work with. The work is very straight forward, helping to do various housekeeping tasks. The whole process is very streamlined. All the volunteers live in a dorm together. The dorm is very spacious and clean and has its own bathroom and kitchen. After one amazing month at the hostel I've made many lifelong friends and have had many an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend!

Hannah and Tanja are the best managers ever! Shifts are simple and the times are very flexible most of the time. Other volunteers are al so amazing so the whole experience is a 10/10!

Working at the 5EH was my first volunteering experience abroad and it set the bar high for my next experiences. Firstly, the city of Leipzig feels smaller than most major cities in Germany, so it was a great opportunity to practice German. The hostel is conveniently located at the very heart of the city; and the volunteers dorm at the hostel is huge and super comfortable. I truly believe the best part were the people. The 5EH felt like a big family. I created lifelong friendships with other volunteers and all the housekeepers and staff were super nice! H, T & R are the best managers

It was a unique experience!! This is literally the best volunteer program in Germany. You get breakfast and laundry included, and the volunteers live in a beautiful penthouse. Everything is comfortable and clean—it's like living in a dream, in your own all-inclusive luxury apartment. Hannah will be your manager, and she is so sweet and perfect ❤️. You also get discounts at the bar, and seriously, every single person on the staff is the kindest person you'll ever meet.
